Ghana midfielder Yusif Alhassan Chibsah has expressed concerns about the nature of the local League.
The former Black Meteors skipper who spent close to eight seasons in the domestic top-flight is worried about the demise of the Ghana Premier League.
The Ghana Premier League has received minimum attention for more than a decade.
The former Gefle IF and Djurgårdens IF midfielder led the Black Meteors team to their last Olympic Games appearance in 2004 after helping Kotoko to win the 2004/05 Ghana Premier League and also helping them to the 2004 CAF Confederations Cup finals where they lost to perennial rivals Accra Hearts of Oak.
Chibsah who spent three seasons with King Faisal before moving to Kotoko is worried about the low patronage of the League.
“We don’t have much problem with the Black Stars. The problem is our local League. That is what we should pay more attention to,” the GAIS midfielder spoke with Starr FM.
“We should try to put in strategic measures to resurrect it, for me the local football is dead especially youth football.”
The 31-year-old has returned to the country for holidays after the Swedish Superettan came to an end.
