Former Black Stars Captain and Icon of the 2016 MILO® Champions League (MCL) Stephen Appiah has begun a soccer clinic for kids across the country. Stephen who mentoring hundreds of the brand’s target will be traveling selected regional capitals across the country for the clinic ahead of each Zonal competition.
It would be recalled that, the former Juventus star, announced during the launch of the 2016 MCL that he will be conducting a soccer clinic as part of his iconic work for this year.
He said “This year, as part of my iconic work, I will be going round the four selected regional capitals which will be hosting the four zonal events to conduct a soccer clinic for over 400 school kids in each zonal competition”
Speaking on the need for the soccer clinic, Miss Marilyn Ofori, Category Development Manager- Beverages, Nestle Ghana Limited said “The soccer clinic has become very necessary because, as a brand MILO® wants to give a strong foundation to many more of its target than it has done in the past”.
The soccer clinic aside inculcating in the selected young talents the basic rudiments of football artistry at the grass root level is also designed to imbibe in the young talents five key important values such as FOCUS, TEAM WORK, DETERMINATION, PERSEVERANCE and DISCIPLINE.
The coaches and other P.E instructors who accompany the kids are also taken through a coaching clinic on the basics of coaching and kid development.
The coaching clinic is sphere headed by Coach Oti Akenteng, Technical Director of the Ghana Football Association, Didi Dramani- National U-20 coach, Baba Nuru Malam-Technical Director Tamale Utrecht Football Academy and a host of other technical brains.
Meanwhile Ofinso Amoawi Methodist Primary from the Ashanti region and Fountain Gate Primary School from the Brong Ahafo region have booked their places to represent their respective regions during the finals of the MILO Champions League to be played from the 23rd to the 25th of June 2016 at the Paa Joe Park, KNUST.
Amoawi was crowned champions of Zone two which was made up of six schools each from the Ashanti and the Brong Ahafo regions. They achieved this feet event beating Fountain Gate Primary in the finals .
In the individual awards, Adusei Opoku Darlington Opoku Randy all of Fountain Gate were given awards for being the Most Disciplined, and Most Focused players for the Tournament.
Christopher Adu of Amoawi Methodist Primary was also adjudged the Most Determined player of the tournament.
The Team Work of the tournament award also went to Fountain Gate International School. The winner and first runner up received cash prizes, cases of MILO® products, set of jerseys and branded footballs. All other participating schools went home with MILO® branded footballs.
Meanwhile twelve (12) schools drawn from the Central and Western Regions of Ghana will be meeting at the Adisadel College for the Zone 3 qualifier from the Wednesday 25th to Friday 27th of June 2016 to find out which two teams book their slot to represent their regions in the National Finals.
The Icon as well as coaches for the GFA Technical divisions will be conducting soccer and coaching clinics for over 400 kids and their coaches from the two regions.
