Nana Kwapong wins AFSAM Junior Open

It was a delightful weekend on the Koforidua Sports Club as the Ball boys displayed their skills in the maiden edition of AFSAM Junior Open Tennis Tournament on Sunday.

The 3-day tournaments was sponsored by Rev. Samuel Afriyie CEO of AFSAM Company Limited.

Nana Yaw Kwapong beat Nana Yaw Ofosu 6-4 in the final. Each player took his serve to 4-4, but Nana Yaw Ofosu lost his rhythm and Nana Yaw Kwapong took advantage of it to win his first title in 2019.

In an interview with ghanatennis.com, Nana Yaw Kwapong said “I am very happy to win the maiden edition of AFSAM junior tourney; it wasn’t easy at all but happy to have won it”.

Vice Chairman of Kofofridua Sports Club, Mr. Kwame Gjamgba, said AFSAM Junior Open tournament and supported by Safegold was to move budding talents from the backstage to the main courts to harness them for Competition.

Captain of the Club, Kwadwo Asare popularly Known as Oput also added that "The display showed by the junior players of the club, clearly shows that the future is bright for Koforidua Tennis Club and we will be widening our net in the next edition bringing our neighbors from Akronpong Tennis Club".

“Our next tournament which is in April will be a Triangular Tennis between Hill Club from Cape Coast, GCB from Accra and host, Koforidua,” Kojo Asare stressed on.
