Some Ghanaians on social media, specifically X (formerly Twitter) have labelled Stephen Appiah's intention to contest the Ayawaso West Wuogon seat in the 2024 elections as a 'waste of money'.
The former Black Stars skipper is reportedly set to contest the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency seat in the upcoming general elections.
While some Ghanaians were surprised by Appiah's political ambitions, others shot down his chances of winning, claiming it would be a waste of his money.
According to the spokesperson for the Ayew family, Fiifi Tackie, the former Juventus star will compete for the seat as an independent Parliamentary candidate.
"Stephen Appiah to contest Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency as an independent Parliamentary candidate," he wrote via X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, April 26, 2024.
If confirmed, Stephen Appiah will be joining Executive Council Member of the Ghana Football Association, Frederick Acheampong as the two leading football personalities gunning for seats in the next parliament.

It's unfortunate for him to throw away all the respectable legacy that he had built for all these years into the abyss now. Politics is not his field! Can he stand the heat? ๐
