Wa All Stars register first win

Wa, Nov. 1, GNA - Wa All Stars FC registered their first win at home this season when they beat Liberty Professionals by a lone goal at the Wa Sports stadium on Sunday.

Substitute Nathaniel Asamoah gave the home team the needed three points at stake when he scored through a header in the 67th minute after he received a floating ball from the midfield.

Gingered by the goal, the home lads increased the tempo of the game but erratic shooting up front and good defensive work by the Liberty rear men denied them of any goal.

All Stars earlier got a penalty in the 47th minute when Liberty's attacker, Daniel Gyamfi brought down Ben Acheampong in the box but All Stars centre forward, Daniel Bomfah's kick was expertly saved by keeper Yaw Berko of Liberty.

As the game was coasting to the dying minutes, the strikers of Liberty Professionals put in extra efforts in an attempt to redeem the goal but the Stars players whose pride was at stake has to fight tooth and nail to hold them at bay till referee Joseph Macarthy from Cape Coast blew the final whistle to bring proceedings to an end. 01 Nov. 09
