Three-time world champion Azumah Nelson has intensified training ahead of his fight with the European Union (EU) Ambassador to Ghana, Irchad Razaaly, on Saturday, May 4, 2024.
The exhibition match, which will be held at the Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra, forms part of activities lined up to commemorate the EU Month in May.
The bout, themed “Diplo-Rumble: Empowering Youth Through Sports,” is aimed at showcasing the talent of young boxers in Bukom while promoting youth empowerment through sports.
Ahead of the bout, the 65-year-old Ghanaian boxing legend has returned to the gym to prepare for the fight.
Azumah Nelson was seen in a recent video throwing punches as he seeks to revive his active days as a boxer.
Irshad Razaaly, who is a kickboxer, is also leaving no stone unturned as he has also stepped up training.
Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia will chair the fight on May 6.
