Wakaso: I'm not Muntari's replacement

Mubarak Wakaso has brushed aside comparison with AC Milan

star, Sulley Muntari, insisting that he can even play alongside the rugged

left-sided midfielder.

Wakaso has just begun his international career, but his

domination of games, hard tackles and powerful left-footed shots in the Black

Stars camp all resonate memories of a certain Muntari.

The Espanyol utility player however does not buy into the

idea that he is the perfect replacement for the now obviously aging Sulley Muntari.

“I can’t compare myself to Sulley because he is a senior

player and he has done it all both in Ghana and in Europe. He is a top player

so I feel honoured to be compared to him but it must end there because he is

way above me,” Wakaso answered 90 MINUTES enquiries if he is the ‘New Sulley

Muntari.’

He explained: “I really love him (Sulley) because he is a

great player and I’ve always said good things about him since he came on the

scene.

“It’s true that we have similar style but I don’t think I’m here

(Black Stars) to replace him. No. I think he still has a lot to offer the Black

Stars and I look forward to playing alongside him.”
