There are no differences between money transfer entities and so-called established banking and financial institutions period. Case in point: StanChart bank of Ghana has been able to steal from Ghanaian customers without any punitive actions from the government of Ghana because of their dual operations in the two countries. Monies sent to customers in Ghana via their Stanchart accounts are subjected to a double dipping of charges by StanChart operations. The StanChart office in New York, NY is used as a conduit for all monies transferred from the US to Ghana via StanChart Ghana accounts but for a fee that is unbeknownst to the beneficiaries in Ghana or the US transfer initiators. While a StanChart Bank address, bank account number and customer information listed on a US bank transfer transaction do reference and points to legitimate StanChart account information in Ghana all Ghana bound StanChart accounts from the USA do pass through the StanChart New York NY outfit for a fee.
So while a fee of $40, on an average, is charged by Banks and or financial institutions in the US for the transfer of an amount of up to $5000 into an account at a StanChart bank in Ghana, the StanChart office in New York, NY acting as a conduit for the Ghana’s offices, do charge fees which may range from $15 on $1000 transfer and up prior to the original amount arriving in a bank account in a StanChart branch in Ghana. In the end the StanChart double dipping scheme allows them to steal money via fees that is unbeknown to the US based sender and or the recipient/beneficiary in Ghana.
