The pay disparity between Ghanaian workers and their expartriate coworkers is too glaring and shameful. With the govt taking in possibly $3.9 billion a year one wonders why this disparity of 750% difference should be tolerated. We need to show some respect to our own people and the fact that they also went to school to qualify for the positions they are holding.

The salaries are normally worked out based on the local salaries workers are paid in Ghana. Certainly it will be higher than the local salaries but not the salary of the expatriate staff brought in based on their skill and incomes externally. What can be done is to hire more Ghanaians but based on the type of activity and accountability, certain supervisory activities are normally kept in the hands of expatriates. Certainly allowances like rent, lunch subsidy, transport, overtime can be adjusted to the benefit of the Ghanaian. These are what workers must negotiate. Normally the foreign companies are there for a specific period but they respect laws of the country. All international organizations have this problem in countries with low salaries.
A word to a wise man is enough
