Report reaching DAILY GUIDE indicates that the man believed to have killed Goaso-based Success FM reporter, George Abanga popularly called King George, has been arrested at Sefwi Abrabra.

The suspect, whose name was not immediately available, was said to be haunted by the ghost of Abanga.

Further investigation is being conducted by the Sefwi-Wiaso police in the Western Region to ascertain the truth or otherwise of the claim by the suspect that he was being haunted by the deceased reporter’s ghost.

The man reportedly surrendered himself to the police after allegedly confessing having killed King George. The suspect, who is believed to be in his 40s, threw the entire community into a state of shock when after reportedly behaving strangely he claimed that the journalist’s ghost was chasing him because he killed him.

According to police source, the suspect had not stated the reason for his purported action but had appealed for spiritual help to stop the ghost of the late journalist from haunting him.

News editor of Success FM, Atiewne Amale Mohammed, is said to be happy about the arrest.

According to him, the staff of the radio station was baffled at the news that King George had been attacked by armed robbers when all his phones, money and even motorbike were intact.

“We are happy someone has owned up because we were convinced King George was murdered,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Brong Ahafo Regional Police Commander, DCOP Maxwell Atingane, has ruled out any armed robbery attack on Abanga last week Thursday.

According to the regional police chief, the sum of GHc200 and three mobile phones found on Abanga at the time of his death ruled out robbery as the cause of the fatal incident, adding, “The police are treating the case as murder.”

Speaking to the media at Sunyani, DCOP Atingane said the police were still carrying out investigations to unravel the reason behind the killing of the journalist, saying, “It appears the deceased was targeted.”

DAILY GUIDE had reported that King George must have been murdered due to ‘cocoa politics’ in the Asunafo South District.
