Man murders wife on suspicion of infidelity

Akyem Oda, July 30, GNA - Okyere Amofa, a farmer who suspected his wife, Ms Afua Esson with whom he had four children, of infidelity stabbed her to death on July 26 at Apeadem in the Birim South District. He also stabbed the deceased's stepdaughter on her head and she is on admission at the Koforidua Central hospital.

Chief Superintendent of Police Ben Atadana, the Akyem Oda Divisional Police Commander, told the Ghana News Agency that Amofa suspected Afua of flirting with another man and confronted her at dawn on that day.

When the decease denied the allegation, Amofa stabbed her in the abdomen with a knife and her intestines gushed out. Chief Superintendent Atadana said the woman died instantly and the deceased's stepdaughter, who was around, raised an alarm. The suspect attacked her also with the knife, inflicting wounds on her.

He said the body of the deceased had been deposited at the Asamankese Government Hospital while the suspect had been placed in police custody at Akyem Akroso.
