Court jails Galamsey operator for stabbing

Tarkwa, Oct. 13, GNA - A Tarkwa circuit court has sentenced Mensah Adzah a 40-year-old Small Scale Miner (Galamsey operator) to five years imprisonment on his own plea for stabbing two persons. Prosecuting Police Chief Inspector Edward Paddy told the court preside= d over by Mr Samuel Obeng Diawuo that around 2100 hours on September 27, Richard Nordey and Woyosi Mensah the complainants, were sent by the witness in the case to buy fried eggs and bread for him from Esuaso market.

He said there was a black out when the two victims's arrived at the market, where a number of people had gathered including the convict. Inspector Paddy said without any provocation, Mensah stabbed Richard o= n the left arm with a knife and in the process he fell and shouted for help. Woyosi who rushed to his colleague's aid was also stabbed in the hea= d. The victims were rushed to Tarkwa Government Hospital where they were admitted, treated and discharged the following day. He said after the incident the accused went into hiding and on September 30, he was arrested at Esuoso by the witness and was handed over to the Police. Inspector Paddy said the accused admitted the offense during investigation.
