I am a Ghanaian Diaspora woman and I think all that you've listed above came from the old mentality Ghanaian Diaspora men, not from the women. I am one of those who have come from low educational background and now at the top of my profession with my husband's support. My husband's understanding of our relationship is that everything we do should be done through mutual respect and this will then flow on to our daughters. He's hoping that our daughters' future husbands treat them well and give them the respect and the understanding we both have and for our children. For example, my husband cooking or cleaning the house when am busy did not make him less of a man. Gone are the days when the Ghanaian woman's place was serving her husband without getting the respect and understanding in return. I have seen the old mentality at work in some of the Ghanaian men here - they still have the notion that all monies must come through their hands/control before is given to the woman. Are we still in the stone age? Most of these women are working more than two jobs but have no joy in these homes. Its about time we let go of our old bad ways and perhaps copy some of the good things that we aspired to and the things that attracted us to these Countries.

I happen to be the author of a recent STUDY that deals exactly with this particular subject matter addressed by Pastor Frank, and I must say that I'm so glad to come across this presentation. And, as one who did conduct literally a decade-long extensive, in-depth, objective research on the subject matter prior to writing the STUDY (it's now in a book form), I'm NOT, and probably should not at all be, shocked or surprised at Pastor Frank Opaku-Amoako's findings - particularly the results of his little, rather informal but very useful poll.
However, I need merely to add that there's this one striking, if most interesting, element I find in regard to Pastor Frank's poll, and that is this: the rather incredibly amazing extent to which the responses of the participants and respondents to his poll, mirror, almost completely and totally, the findings of our own independent and purely objective research in the field on the subject! The extent of the commonalities and similarities between the two (between the answers by respondents of the Frank's pool and the findings by our own independent objective study), is, in deed, quite striking and amazing!
The views expressed by the good Pastor's respondents to the poll, such as the following, can very easily be substituted for what respected reporters, Diaspora African women (and men) observers, different pastors, and several experts and studies, quoted or cited in our STUDY, extensively expressed, though, obviously, in their own respective words. Responses (views) such as the following, that:
1. Most of the women have grown wings.
2. Too much liberty has not helped most of our African women.
3. Academic knowledge has made some of them lose their African wisdom.
4. Some of them have become 'too known'.
5. Our women have truly been helped by western culture, but many have
lost their sense of balance between economic empowerment and good
African values.
6. Pastor, some of them are unable to respect their husbands when they
begin to earn more income than their men.
8. Some of them are unable to manage their high position and power at
work, and humility at home.
9. Pastor Frank, because they say they also work outside the home,
they really starve and punish us in our marriage beds.
10. Some of the men truly help their women up the ladder, only for the
ladies to kick off the ladder once they get to the top.
ETC., ETC.....
Simply quite striking and amazing!!
Thank you for the reading.
