Some of you are desperately wishing this makes sense. But NO, this dude is a simple-minded thinker pretending to have answers to complex issues. The Odore river is less than one mile long. It cost $40 million under Cicilia Dapaa to dredge it. What is the mileage between Accra to Kumasi? Do the math on the cost. We are better off fixing the road and rail ways. This is like the current president by-force building a cathedral but never mind that the roads leading to the cathedral may be impassible. Plus, Accra is at a lower sea level compared to Kumasi.

@ Rex ... unfortunately, many people have myopic mindsets and CAN'T DO spirit. Wherever there's a will, there's a way. Cheddar is daring to dream about what many think it's impossible. The first time Marconi shared his vision of inventing a wireless radio, he was committed into a psychiatric clinic for having mental disorder issues. Many people in his time thought he was crazy. Today, it's a thing of the past. Don't criticize him because if he can dream about Petronia City in Ghana, I believe it doesn't hurt anyone to allow him to dream. That's the problem with the Blackman ... we can never think outside the box.

His explanation makes sense now. But, there's no need investing millions in dredging the land to connect rivers and seas for transportation when we can achieve the same purpose by rail or by road more efficiently. We can leverage the railway development of current government to transform goods right from the ports to other parts of the country through cargo trains. Secondly, this mode of transportation would be seasonal since most of the rivers reduce in volume during the dry season. Honestly, if you look at our needs as a country, this is not the time to spend our scarce resources trying to dig lands to connect water bodies. I'm not going to talk about the complex engineering required. The economic analysis is enough to put this idea aside.

That’s my man Cheddar..Anytime I see u, it makes me smile because I know what God has placed in your heart to help mother Ghana..Ghanaians who have not traveled and not enlightened are the ones who doubt your dream of dredging sea to Kumasi.:They still have the Ghanaian local mindset..something that some countries have done 20years ago, Ghanaians are doubting it can’t be done in 2024? Come on, how can such a country develop..there is nothing impossible in this world..the world itself says( I’m Possible)..the very first time I went to America(New York city), the very first question I asked myself is, how were they able to do the underground train construction..If some humans can dig underground and create a path for train, create structures underground, build houses underground, then what else can’t we do as human beings..politicians in Africa specifically Ghana has made the people so dumb and dull that, they don’t even believe in themselves..Any little things, they think it’s too much to achieve..looking at all the river bodies and the sea surrounding Ghana, this is just an easy task..Forget those haters, let’s focus on our campaign, gradually the message will get to the slow thinkers..u will be the first independent candidate to win election In Ghana’s history

1) It can damage or destroy fish spawning grounds and also make the rivers you are talking about unstable and mess up the river banks.
2) It will lower oxygen levels because of the suspensions that will potentially release harmful chemicals and destroy or kill anything on its way if care is not taken. Like l said, in Ghana lai lai bro and it won't be sustainable because we all did geography in school too. Dredging inwards will destroy the country so think of rails, dual carriage ways and toll roads and maybe without corruption, we will get somewhere. Even the Manchester canal in today's money(cost)is £1.5 billion for only 37 miles so how are you gonna fund 150 miles or more of dredging the sea from Accra or T'adi to Kumasi? Don't lie to the vulnerable people with your Google map crap l beg bro.

About one third of the Netherlands lies below sea level, with the lowest point being 22 feet (6.7 meters) below sea level. Meanwhile, the highest point is about a thousand feet above sea level. That gives you an idea of what the landscape of the Netherlands looks like. It’s almost completely flat!
Kumasi is 820 feet above sea level.
It is within the plateau of the South-West physical region which ranges between 250-300 metres above sea level.

Did he really say this.
Takyiman is not Kumasi and the Tanoe river does not go to Takoradi it makes it way to a lagoon were Ghana and Cote d'Ivoire meet.
It would still be a massive project and needs feasibility studies and costings.
The thing about many of the rivers in Ghana is that they are not navigable by boats never mind ships with significant beams.
There is also a serious environmental impact.
He also needs to stop thinking Kumasi is the centre of any industry. Gold, Cocoa, Bauxite, Manganese are all in the Western Region.
There is an argument for maybe using the Volta river and Volta lake although Akosombo dam presents challenge, combined with railways but this idea to have a canal to Kumasi is ludicrous.
What are the benefits what industries are in Kumasi that would make it economically viable ?

This guy is well aware of how gullible Ghanaians are so why wouldn't he toy up with us.
In the first place, how much has the sea (the real one) transformed the coastal regions to the disadvantage of the inland areas for anyone to believe that creating a canal to Kumasi would be a 'game changer' to the economy of the area? Then again, why dredge only to Kumasi and not all the way to the North?
Meanwhile, how much would constructing an efficient railway line or a six-lane motorway linking Axim to Bolga, and Aflao to Wa cost as compared to extending the sea to Kumasi?
