My wonderful comrade Anane, great job on the above issues you have outlined. These are critical issues that does not only need immediate attention but also putting in all measures to stop such acts. However, my suggestion to you is that our Ghanaian society is increasingly growing with problem and fault finders LIKE YOU - ANANE, without championing LOGICAL CONSTRUCTIVE ways to resolve challenges. I didn't know whather you an old student of Ho Poly, if you are, I recommend you follow up through with the appropriate channels to have these issues of concern address. Than thinking you are exposing Ho Poly, yet exposing yr own inability to think and solve problems.

Thanks so much for explaining how you ended up with that poor grammar. Your explanation is accepted in good faith. However, I wish to draw your attention to a few more. The word "blander" as used in your write-up should have been "blunder". You asked "...are there any synergy at all...?" I think it would have sounded better if you had asked "...is there any synergy...?" You also used the word "expects" for "experts". In that same sentence, the final word (verb) should have been "operate" instead of "operates". I am surprised you are so fixated on Ho Poly when all institutions in the country are fast failing right from the Executive, through our Legislature to our schools, security services, etc., etc. I still feel strongly that you have a bone to pick with the head of the HTM (whatever that stands for) department. I'll be waiting for your next report.

The mess at the HTM Dept of Ho Poly is only a tip of the ice-berg. Very soon Ho Poly students will be hit by an epidemic of gargantuan proportion. Why? Go to the V- Block ans see things for yourself. For a student population of over 5000 no toilet, wash room and urinal are working. The WCs are choked with 2 months' old faeces. There is gangrene on the walls and ceiling due to bad leakage of water. No place is earmarked for staff or students. All go to the same place. Flies and maggots meet you as you attempt to urinate in the WCs. The stench is unbearable. Water doesnt flow on the V-Block and AR Block. The urinal near the AR Block where students attend classes emits horrible urinal odour every second of the day. You dare not go there to empty your urinary tract as huge flies will follow you unceasingly.
Yet the Rector sits in his office talking rubbish to academic staff with whom he's supposed to cooperate. The problem at Ho Poly is due to an incompetent Rector who was smuggled in through the back door by the Council Chairman, who is a Togolese. but claims to be a Ghanaian. All who were interviewed in 2010 for the position were found unsuitable. Fresh interviews were to be held for new applicants, when the Council Chairman, a Togolese by birth, managed to get the Council to approve an failed interviewee for the position. Now, the chickens have come home to roost - his incompetence has manifested in all speres of life at Ho Poly. The Solution? Government shd immediately remove the Rector and dissolve the Governing Council before things get catastrophic. The Rector is going on retirement next year so he's unconcerned about the bad developments, and is rather busy looting the resources of an already poor Institution. Why hasnt he repaired the two electric diesel generators to provide power for teaching and learning in these times of dum sor, dum sor? He has rather emasculated Academic Board, Appointments $ Promotions C'ttee, all other C'ttees. He has done mass recruitment of people from his home town and surrounding areas to substantive positions, some without probation. He's also pursuing ethno-centric agenda by supplanting staff from the south of the Region with persons from his home town, Kpando, Wusuta, Sovie and surrounding towns. All old staff have been posted to obscure Depts, away from the Admin centre for fear they may 'see things'. He talks arrogantly to academic and admin staff, hence is getting no cooperation from them. He cancels Overload claims arbitrarily, as he has boasted of having enough red pens to do so. More later

Ben,
I was among thus appalled by your very poor grammar. This is much better but as others have already pointed out, there is still much left to be done in that direction. At times, you can even read through several times but this still miss some obvious errors. You only spot them after the article is published. Can be maddening! But if you give your piece to someone capable to read through for you with instruction to spot such errors, you'd be surprised how much such a "proof-reader" will come out with. And you definitely need a such an amateur proof-reader for your next article. I can oblige you if you send it to me at cyandyk@ymail.com.
Anyway, it is good for some people to be concerned about the failing institutions in our country and go to the extent of writing about them publicly as you are doing. Don't mind those who are saying you shld address your concerns to the SRC or so-called correct channels. They have no clue about how change is brought about in the civilised countries some of us are in now. Public exposure will bring attention on those at the helm of affairs, generate debate, show them that there are better ways and force them to institute change. Similar institutions with similar problems take a cue as well, as actors in them also begin to agitate for change. We must constantly agitate for change!
BTW, I learned from my snr. brother Efo Solo, that he is in talk with some lecturers at the Ho Poly start a course in gas and oil, in view of the prevailing situation whereby Nigerians have flooded the country with all kinds of dubious courses. People are being (not "been" as some of u have been writing)ripped off! The problem is that very few people in Ghana have any clue about what goes into oil and gas studies, so lecturers themselves have to upgrade.

Alfie,
Indeed, even in these "civilised" parts, in many cases, mere exposure isn't enough to effect change for the better. In some cases, it takes many years of lobbying, campaigning, petitions and public actions like demonstrations by organised groups for change to be effected. Such organised groups are lacking in Ghana at the moment. The so-called civil society is just a joke! It takes time for such things to develop, so let those who can expose bad practices, etc., continue in their efforts. Who knows, all of a sudden, a critical point may be reached when some few key people had had enough, and from anomic organisations arising suddenly around single issues and pressing for their resolutions, we'd soon have permanently organised groups tackling multi-issues at the drop of a pin!
