So what will Bokor answer to this since he is so interested in resolving this case? Anyway, the matter is really not if Akufo-Addo was called to an English bar but the circumstances surrounding his being called there. But if he was a lawyer before going to Paris, then he could have worked there in his capacity as a lawyer too - perhaps not defending clients in court since his French may not be that good and heavily accented.
But I see that Kofi Ata too is no longer a Ghanaian. He cannot stand for parliament in Ghana or become President there or take up many positions there. But he's not alone. All those making so much noise about Ghana on ghanaweb are not Ghanaians any longer - Bokor, Okoampa, Adofo, Akadu, Kola, etc. etc. are no longer Ghanaians...
Anyway, Kofi Ata, the name is Akufo-Addo, not Akufo Addo.

But anyway, Justice Kpegah's query is not about what Kofi Atta has put up here but purely a Ghanaian matter. If anyone wanted to practice law in Ghana, you first must be trained in Ghana to become one. Did WAD Akuffo Addo get such training with qualification? where are his classmates and who trained him? Has he a certificate? where are the archives?
These are simple questions Ghanaians wanted to know.

Thanks, Kofi Atah for trying to help us make sense of Nana's Academic and professional credentials, or lack of such credentials.
I am still puzzled by the following:
1. Do you understand that an e-mail communication or verbal communication is not official?. For the technologically challenged that is proof. But those who know better know that any crook could doctor such information and send it to you. Why would Nana not produce official documents to help put this matter to rest?
2. Your posting does not address the question of whether Nana was duly qualified to practice law in Ghana. According to Nana's vita , he was called to the Ghana Bar in 1975. Kofi Kyei is right. In 1975, Ghana was no longer a British colony. Ghana had its own laws so being called to English Bar does not automatically qualify Nana to practise law in Ghana. There are still more questions than answers.

Nana Antwi -Berko. Your ignorance is abysmal. I am telling Kofi Atah that phone information and e-mail communication with a junior staff at this institution is not an official proof as he claims. If you know anything about academic credentials, only Nana could sign a written consent for information regarding his academic credentials to be released to anybody. In some cases that includes law enforcement. Kofi's attempt to clarify this situation is an exercise in futility. Simple common sense which unfortunately is not common.

So, if he was duly called to the Ghana Bar in 1975, what's all this Ghana was not a British colony about? If you were trying to suggest that Nana should have gone back to the Ghana Law School or do a post-call course at the same, know that even in England foreign-qualified lawyers are treated differently when being admitted to the English Bar. Some go through simple processes, while others have to take on a heavier course work. Until you know the specifics of a case, don't open your mouth and talk rubbish.

To help you,Akufo read economics a non law degree so he would have to through the the heavier course work to qualify. The present position in England is that non law graduates would have to do the cpe in other to qualify to do the Bar.Since it is a different jurisdiction, if the rules are to be followed strictly,Akufo will have to take a heavier course work in Ghana to qualify.I am told the law school in Ghana refused Ghanaians with the post graduate diploma in law from the college of law uk because they don't have the law degree so they went through the heavier course work to qualify. For example a Ghanaian lawyer with the llb, would only have to do the qualified lawyers transfer certificate (QLTT) to qualify to practice in England. It is a question of jurisdiction and their requirements. The llb gives you a better chance to practice internationally with exeptions.

Steps to becoming a Lawyer in the UK
In the United Kingdom the legal profession is growing at an increasingly fast pace, in line with this many graduates are pursuing the legal line of profession at an increasing rate annually. According to the Law Society, as at 31st July 2011, there were 159,524 solicitors on the Roll; which means that since 1981 the total number of solicitors holding practicing certificates has grown by 206.4% at an average annual rate of 3.8%.
There are two major legal professions in the UK – barristers and solicitors. The paths of these two professions are different and both require separate training; the Bar Vocational Course for Barristers and the Legal Practice Course for solicitors. Both the LPC and BVC can be studied at law schools throughout the UK including the College of Law, now referred to as, The University of Law, which has campuses in London, Birmingham, Bristol, Chester, Guildford, Manchester and York. After the vocational training stage prospective lawyers have to secure a kind of apprenticeship with an established firm or chambers – this is a training contract for solicitors and pupillage for barristers.
Solicitors
1. Law degree (LLB) – undergraduate
In order to become a solicitor in the UK; the first option is to study law at the undergraduate level, Bachelor of Law (LLB), on successful completion of the LLB; you need to study the Legal Practice Course (LPC). The LPC can be studied in most institutions in the UK such as: Birmingham City University and University of Hertfordshire or at the College of Law.
The syllabus for the LPC is divided into five important areas: core, compulsory, pervasive, skills and elective. The core area comprises of: ethics, basic skills, taxation, the European ‘context' and probate/administration of estates. Compulsory area includes: litigation and advocacy, business law and practice, and property law and practice.
Pervasive areas are those that should be considered in the context of the other areas of the course. They comprise professional conduct and client care, European Union law, revenue law, accounts and the Human Rights Act. Skills area covers: practical legal research, writing and drafting, interviewing and advising, and advocacy. Elective requires that three subjects are studied from a range of corporate and private client topics.
On successful completion of the LPC, the trainee solicitor needs to secure a training contract (TC) with a law firm or chamber, the TC is the last step to become to a solicitor, and it takes two years to complete which is inclusive of the Professional Skills Course (PSC). The PSC is compulsory if you want to become a solicitor. All trainee solicitors are required to complete three core modules and 24 hours of electives. However, according to the Solicitors Regulatory Authority, firms/chambers must pay for their trainees to attend the PSC. The three core modules of the PSC are: financial and business skills; advocacy and communication skills; and client care and professional standards.
2. Graduate Diploma of Law – Non-Law undergraduate degree
If you studied a course other than a law degree such as: Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Science or Business Administration. You can do a conversion course known as the Graduate Diploma of Law also referred to as the Common Professional Exam. The Graduate Diploma of Law (GDL) is a one-year full time course; two-four years as a part-time or distance-learning program.
The GDL confers upon students on successful completion a diploma equal to a law degree. The GDL can be studied from at various universities throughout the UK including BPP University College; University of Glamorgan and City University London.
When studying for a GDL, students will learn the seven core foundational areas of law which are: Contract law, Tort, Constitutional law, Criminal law, European Union law, Equity and Trusts, Public Law and Land Law. Upon successful completion of the GDL course, the graduate can apply for the LPC and then the Training Contract.
Barristers
In the accordance with the above, in order to qualify as a barrister in the UK, a prospective lawyer can study an undergraduate degree in law (LLB), or an undergraduate degree in any other subject followed by the conversion course or GDL.
On completion of the LLB or GDL, a prospective lawyer can take the vocational training Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC), which involves one year of full-time study or two years part-time study. However, all trainee barristers are required to be admitted to an Inn of Court before registration on the Bar Professional Training Course. The Inns of Court are: The honorable societies of Lincoln’s Inn, Gray’s Inn, Middle Temple and Inner Temple.
Prospective lawyers can study their BPTC at the College of Law, BPP University College and many other UK law schools. After the vocational stage (BPTC), the trainee barrister needs to do a pupillage, where he or she ‘shadows’ an experienced barrister assigned to him/her. The trainee barrister spends one year as a pupil in barristers' chambers or in another organisation approved by the Bar Standards Board as a Pupillage Training Organization (PTO).
After the pupillage training, the final step is to obtain tenancy in a set of barristers' chambers as a self-employed barrister, or to go into practice as an employed barrister.

By the way, Oxford categorically denied that Nana Addo was expelled either for bad behaviour or poor academic performance. Yet, you continue to throw that lie about. This is why I don't think that even if Nana Addo published his certificates on Ghanaweb, this matter will end. You even be sure that some evil minds will doctor part of the information on the certificate and spread the misrepresentation around to give Nana a bad name.

This apologist of the NPP cannot even get it right the name of his own political party. Instead of New patriotic Party he described this defeated party as National Patriotic Party. Who tells him Akufo Addo is a successful lawyer and politician. He is successful in terms of his periodic defeats he has been suffering. As for the issue of a successful lawyer, I find it difficult to agree. Akufo Addo was dealing with appeal cases and not real trials which is the crux of law defence. It is when you are able to make a case in the defence of clients at the lower courts that you can be said to be a crack lawyer and not appeal cases where you only criticize the judgement of the judge, some of which may not be on the facts of the case at the lower courts but on the wrong interpretation of the law by the trial court judge. Why don't we allow this man himself to talk? Who were his classmates prior to being called to the English Bar and with whom did he do his Post Call program in Ghana. Simple questions. Please defeated candidate give us these simple answers keke.

You do not vote on issues but personality and yet will be the same people to complain when your handsome candidate with a clean record cannot perform and the economy stagnates. If you have any sense in your head, read over your comment and think through what you have written. Kofi Ata, I think that you should have waited to receive all responses to your inquiries before rushing to put your story in the public domain.
However, what is important in this national exercise is not so much about how Nana got into Middle Temple. Rather, how he managed to have his name on the roll of lawyers in 1975.
Now we are being told that his certificates are missing. This is troubling considering the fact that the NOTE SIGNED BY ONE MR. BREW IS EVEN MORE TROUBLING. For example, did this Mr. Brew, do diligent and thorough investigation and proper background check on Nana's stint at the Ghana School of Law before signing off on that "NOTE"? And why wasn't Nana given another certificate after this background check but rather a "note"?
By the way, don't you find it curious that Akufo-Addo's classmates and/lecturers are not coming out of the wood to defend him?
These are legitimitate issues and concerns.
Meanwhile, have you taking trouble to read the NOTE sent from Middle Temple and filed in court by Nana's lawyers?
This is a very serious case and we must treat it as such instead of being blinded by our partisanship.

Yes Stevo, it's like one claiming he or she was once a product of the University Of Science And Technology (U.S.T) and you check him out and realised he or she was in fact enrolled in the above university at some point in time, but still doubt his ability to that claim of going the whole length till the end, then you simply do the classic due diligence on him to authenticate his boisterous claim. And that, my friend, is what former Justice Francis Kpegah simply did.
Akufo Addo saw the Oxford University, enrolled, but did not conquer. He was at the University Of Lagon, but did not conquer. He proceeded to the Middle Temple Institution and come out worse than he had gone in. Finally, Kofi Brokeman Akufo Addo did the “giggy” on the Ghana Bar Association and scored himself a ton of NOTES but still no certificate in sight. Gee Hosea! Suddenly, Kpegah is the crazy dude?

Good job, Kofi. But this DOES NOT answer the claims being made by Kpegah and Bokor. In fact, there are only three ways, two of which may be sufficient, for Akufo-Addo to extricate himself from this matter.
1. If there is evidence that Nana Addo and the said WAD Akufo-Addo, who is a member of Middle Temple, share the same date of birth.
2. Following (1) there is evidence that Nana Addo has at any point in his early years been known officially as WAD Akufo-Addo.
3. While (1) and (2) above shall suffice, it may also be helpful if there is evidence that Nana Addo did change his first name in the past and swore an affidavit to same. Knowing Nana, however, I doubt he'll be willing to stoop so low as to answer propagandists, especially by publicly publishing his personal documents.
However, some evidence may already exist. In the Oxford affair, we were told, including your good self, that WAD Akufo-Addo had been confirmed a past student of Oxford and that the said WAD was Nana Addo! I can see why this time Kofi cannot support claims that suggest otherwise. By that alone he has won my respect for displaying some degree of integrity. In contrast, while Bokor was in the thick of affairs in the Oxford matter, he has now done a volte face and joined those claiming Nana is impersonating the same WAD who Bokor and others told us was dismissed from Oxford!
Questions to Kofi:
a. In the earlier Oxford affair, what name did you write to the University authorities to authenticate: Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo or WAD Akufo-Addo? If it's the latter, then one can assume that either the person you sought to expose at the time was not Nana Addo or that you have information that Nana and "William" are one and the same.
b. In their response to queries, did Oxford University indicate WAD Akufo-Addo's date of birth (DOB), and does this match Nana's Addo's publicised DOB?
Kofi Ata, Cambridge, UK 11 years ago
PK, I provided both names and the DoB of Nana Akufo Addo (as published on his campaign website)to Oxford and the Middle Temple. I hope this answers your question. I am 100% confident that WAD Akufo Addo is Nana Akufo Addo.

Hi Kofi,
I have no problem at all with WAD being Nana Akufo-Addo. My problem however, has to do with W.E.D. Akufo-Addo.
We are told in the Kpegah petition that Nana Akufo-Addo is impersonating somebody. Indeed, the Kpegah case was clumsy in the repetion of WAD Akufo-Addo, and did not even mention WED Akufo-Addo.
In the response by Nana Akufo-Addo's lawyers, we see for the first time, a reference to WED Akufo-Addo! What explains that, as this is coming from the Akufo-Addo defence team?
If the late WED Akufo-Addo is being impersonated under a simple affidavite signed to change WED Akufo-Addo to WAD Akufo-Addo, do you think that it would have been included in the letter from The Middle Temple?
In their own letter, they make it clear: "I am unable to disclose any other information as we can only confirm information which is in the public domain."
In order to get to the bottom of this story, the right question to ask the Akufo-Addo team is who is WED Akufo-Addo? Is he not the one being impersonated? If WAD Akufo-Addo had done a change of name at The Middle Temple,on behalf of WED Akufo-Addo, this letter will not say so!
Just as the Oxford letter being used as a confirmation did not help in establishing the truth surrounding the dismissal of Akufo Addo at Oxford, wrongly claimed it had no records on "Akofo Addo"!
God help Ghana!
Long live our democracy!
Forward Ever! Backwards Never!

WHAT YOU MUST CONCERN YOUR LITTLE SELF WOTH, IS THIS NOTICE ABOUT YOUR POOR COUNTRY, GHANA:
Seth Terkper – Finance Minister
In a flurry of mixed signals emanating from the Finance Ministry, the Minister of Finance, Seth Terkper, last Wednesday hinted that Ghana may not be broke, but had an account that was definitely “red”.
Speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show on Wednesday, Seth Tekper admitted that the country was in the red and may be on a brink of going bankrupt.
But his latest admission has muddied the waters even more because earlier this week, he specifically stated that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) was not in a position to meet demands for settlement of salary arrears of striking workers.
According to him, government had made some “critical payments” in the last couple of weeks.
For weeks now, several adjectives have been used to describe the state of government finances. Words such as “red”, “broke”, “bankrupt” and “HIPC” have been freely used by both government officials and critics.
“Ghana is not broke. We are a country that collects 15-16 per cent GDPs as taxes. Some developing countries do 9-10per cent… we need to widen the tax base and bring in more revenue,” the Finance Minister rebutted on Wednesday.
“We are also a country that gets grants and have good ratings that will help us borrow to finance our developmental expenditure so to say that Ghana is broke, is overstretching the issue,” he said in a bid to allay fears.
But Seth Tekper’s next statements made it even more difficult to reconcile his earlier rebuttal. “We are in red and that is factual but is our being in red planned or unplanned? If I am in red because I could not finance or complete the Accra-Kumasi road on my budget as a developing country and therefore go for a loan which I plan to pay within the spate of 15 or 30 years and I’m able to maintain it over time, that is planned expenditure,” he stated.
“We are talking of the sustainability of a policy that was put in place; which is throwing the budget out of balance and I think this is the history,” the clearly worried Finance Minister explained.
But critics have stated that government accounts are drained such that the Mahama-led government cannot meet its payment obligations, hence the countless industrial actions by public sector workers.
Doctors, University lecturers, basic school teachers, Judicial Service workers and several other workers are either on strike or are planning industrial actions to demand payment of their outstanding remunerations and allowances.
The NDC government is currently struggling to meet its obligations to statutory funds such as the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), the Ghana Education Trust Fund, the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), Social and Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) and road contractors who draw their payments from the Road Fund.
President Mahama recently claimed that the problem dogging government finances could be attributed to the huge public sector wages.
The Executive Director of think-tank, IMANI, Franklin Cudjoe agrees with this view, and reasoned that the implementation of the Single Spine Salary Structure was flawed causing the squeeze from huge government wage bills.
The NDC government is currently caught in a desperate race to borrow funds abroad to offset some of the deficits it is experiencing.
“Borrowing is unplanned when we lack budget discipline; when someone overspends and we have to borrow to pay back, this kind of red is undesirable,” stated the Finance Minister who was trying to justify what he meant by Ghana’s account exceeding the red mark.

Why are some of you so blinded by hate?
You don't go to school to be certified as a Professional Accountant, they are all boards that administer examinations to admit members after getting their degrees from their schools.

We are here talking about a person to practise law in Ghana. All that we are saying is that if you don't undertake the POST CALL BAR COURSE AT THE GHANA SCHOOL OF LAW, YOU CANNOT BE ADMITTED TO THE BAR BY THE GENERAL LEGAL COUNCIL. THAT IS A CLEAR STATEMENT OF FACT.
Unless you are talking about other jurisdiction. Ghana's case is different from other jurisdictions. Keep your eyes on Ghana.

TROUBLE-MAKER, this is a very restricted way of engaging the public in this national discussion. How do you explain the fact that the very notes file by Nana contain very serious infractions. The one from Middle Temple talks about Nana's "BA" instead of "BSC" Econs degree.
Again, the note written by one Mr. Brew and filed in court by Nana is even more damaging because by law it is the General Legal Council that is supposed to do that after a thorough investigation.
I am just wondering why Nana's lawyers didn't FILE HIS TRANSCRIPTS FROM THE GHANA SCHOOL OF LAW to nail the case down. They can easily do this without showing his grades.
This case is troubling considering the fact that Nana was once our AG.

The information Kofi Atta got from Middle Temple did not give his readers detailed explanation as to whether that person admitted to the English Bar was indeed Nana Akufo-Addo or someone else.

"Thank you for your enquiry.
The Middle Temple does not have a member by the name of Nana Akufo Addo. We do have a member called William Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, and I can confirm that he was called to the Bar by this Inn on 22 July 1971. I am unable to disclose any other information as we can only confirm information which is in the public domain."

Akadu, If you don't understand and appreciate the issues in this serious national matter, can you please stay off it. I say this because you are making Nana Akufo Addo look bad every day. For example, through the diligent work of Bokor, we now know that:
1. NOTES FILED BY NANA AKUFO ADDO THROUGH HIS LAWYER, ONE MR. FRANK DAVIES, CONTAIN MANY FATAL ERRORS:
A. That Nana Akufo Addo was awarded a BA degree from "Ghana University". I am not so much concerned about the latter mistake but rather the former, namely, that Akufo Addo was awarded a "BA" degree when we all know that Nana obtained his Legon degree in economics.
The question you have to ask yourself is: Does the Economics Dept in Legon offer a "BA" OR "BSC" degree in Economics? If, they award the latter and not the former, why didn't Nana inform them about this serious defect and have their record rectified?
B. Importantly, when did his certificate from Middle Temple and General Legal Council got missing/lost?
C. More importantly, did he go through the right channel to get his lost certificate from Ghana replaced. I asked this question because the NOTE from one Mr. Brew raises some very troubling issues. For example, was a thorough investigation done into how NANA ADDO GOT ON THE ROLL OF LAWYERS before Mr. Brew wrote that note as demanded by law OR he just took Nana's word for it.
In other words, did Mr. Brew, granted that he was authorized to sign off on the NOTE, go to Ghana School of Law to check on Nana's transcripts?
These are some of the troubling issues confronting us as a nation. So please, stop making these not-so-funny statements about Dr. Bokor who is just trying to get to the truth of this very serious matter which is never going to go away.

You and Bokor have claimed that Mr. Brew signed off the testimonial note without checking on Nana's transcripts at the Ghana School of Law. There are two problems with your claims.
1. Assuming that this is the procedure for everyone called to the Ghana Bar, how do you know that Mr. Brew or whoever authorised the note did not also cause such investigation to be made before the note was issued. There is nothing in the note that suggest that such an investigation was not done, and neither you nor Bokor has provided evidence to back your claims. You're merely throwing out questions and insisting that your questions must be taken as evidence. That's very arrogant!
2. Are you aware that in the past those who were called to the Bar in England and other Commonwealth jurisdictions did not have to pass selected courses before being called to the Ghana Bar? Indeed, there is a case in which a lawyer from England was called to the Ghana Bar the very day he arrived in Ghana in order to enable him represent his client. Now, if this was the case during the early 1970s, it would mean that Nana Addo would have no transcripts at the Ghana School of Law, so that asking whether Mr. Brew checked Nana Addo's transcripts at the Ghana School of Law is completely moot! You should investigate issues before you come out to make disparaging claims about well-meaning citizens of this country. Doing so requires humility, fairness and integrity, traits that seem to have eluded Bokor and his supporters. Indeed, if readers of this forum were to carefully examine Bokor's conduct on matters concerning Nana Addo, no one would take Bokor seriously. For, he is a walking contradiction. Did Bokor not join those who claimed that a certain WAD Akufo-Addo was dismissed from Oxford and that this man and Nana Addo were one and the same? How come the same Bokor has jumped on Kpegah's side claiming that Nana Addo is impersonating the same WAD? If there is any "funny" character in this matter, it's certainly Bokor!

PK, you are very wrong on all fronts and I make this profound statement backed by good reason or reasons.
1. You are left to speculate and run riot with your assumptions because Nana Addo continues to fudge these very simple issues. For example, what is complex about coming public with the fact as to whether you attended Ghana School of Law or not? And by so doing telling us the period you were there.
You should never forget that Nana Akufo-Addo is a prominent public figure who is aspiring to be our FIRST CITIZEN. It is in this regard that he has to set very high standards for us as a people. It beats my imagination that such a simple issue as to whether HE WAS PROPERLY CALLED TO THE BAR SHOULD ENGAGE SUCH EMOTIONAL BUILD-UP WHEN, IN FACT, HE CAN CLEAR THE SLATE BY GIVING US ALL THE FACTS.
Why should he be dragged to court before coming out with those ridiculous notes which are pregnant with serious mistakes. Examples:
1. The Econs Dept at the University of Ghana does not AWARD "BA" degree as Nana's note from Middle Temple seeks to tell us. It awards A "BSC" Degree.
2. It is the General Legal Council that gives out duplicate certificates and not an acting administrative secretary.
By the way, it is not true that you can be given special dispensation by the General Legal Council to practise law in Ghana without going to the post call program. We did it even in the 1960s and my information is that that is still the practice. I am further told that the General Legal Council give such special dispensations to well-qualified lawyers from abroad as a one shot deal and not to do extensive legal practice in Ghana as Nana Addo did.
By the way, if that was what happened in Nana Addo's case, why doesn't he tell the nation instead of coming up with all these tortured stories?
Whatever is emerging from this case is very troubling because Nana Addo is fudging the issues and hiding behind the courts processes.
So where lies my arrogance in this serious national matter?

Response: Except the affidavit by lawyers, which was filed in the High Court, Nana Addo has not responded to the allegations in the public domain. He cannot be accused of CONTINUING to fudge the issues. Or is it a case of the wrong choice of diction on your part?
2. "The Econs Dept at the University of Ghana does not AWARD "BA" degree as Nana's note from Middle Temple seeks to tell us. It awards A "BSC" Degree."
Response: While it may be true that Nana Addo earned a BSc in Economics from UG, it is FALSE that the Econs Dept at UG does not also award BA degrees. As in the the Business School, students who combine Economics (or Admin courses) with other social science courses, such as Information Studies, Sociology, etc., may earn a BA instead of a BSc.
3. "Whatever is emerging from this case is very troubling because Nana Addo is fudging the issues and hiding behind the courts processes."
Response: It's not Nana Addo who took this matter to court; his accusers did, and he is duty-bound not only to respond, but also to keep his responses within the legal process. Yet, you're calling him names for doing just that!
Moreover, there are various people in Ghana who accuse Nana Addo of one thing or another either to gain political capital or to rationalise personal failures. At Legon, I knew a student at the Law Faculty who always rationalised his poor grades thus: even Nana Addo with all his "too known" attitude had a Third Class in Law at Legon. What this friend was trying to prove was that she too could become a successful lawyer with her poor grades. That's fair enough. But the problem is that Nana Addo never studied law at Legon! To expect Nana Addo to respond to all these silly allegations in the public is just insane!
4. "It is the General Legal Council that gives out duplicate certificates and not an acting administrative secretary."
Response: This is a very surprising one. The General Legal Council (GLC) is an abstract institution without its members and official staff mandated to run it. If you make a request to the GLC, as to any institution, it is the officers of the institution that will answer your request, and an administrative secretary, acting or not, can be authorised to issue testimonials, based on the practice of the institution in such matters. In the past I obtained testimonials from my former department of study overseas signed by the department's administrator.
So, here lies your arrogance that seems to morph into, or derive from, IGNORANCE.

STEVO: He is fudging the issues because he is being economical with the facts and trying to play smart when there is no need to. By the very nature of the affidavits he had already filed in court, we are beginning to see how nervous he become since Justice Kpegah filed his lawsuit.
What is strange here is that by the very law that established the General Legal Council, Nana Addo was enjoined to file an authenticated copy of his certificate granted by General Legal Council with the Judicial Secretary. IF, THEREFORE, HIS CERTIFICATE IS MISSING, THE GOOD PLACE HE HAS TO GO FOR AN COPY IS THE AUGUST OFFICE OF THE JUDICIAL SECRETARY.
The question is, why hasn't Nana Addo gone to that office for a copy of his qualifying certificate which was duly filed with that office?
FOR YOUR INFORMATION, BY FILING THOSE AFFIDAVITS IN COURT, NANA ADDO, IS TELLING THE WORLD - NOT ONLY THE COURT - THAT HE IS TELLING US THE TRUTH. THOSE AFFIDAVITS ARE NOW PART OF THE PUBLIC RECORD. SO YOU SERIOUSLY MISJUDGED AND MISUNDERSTOOD THE ESSENCE OF THOSE AFFIDAVIT

STEVO: Since you tacitly admit in your very first sentence that my statement on the BSC subject-matter "may be true", why don't you do your homework first before needlessly attacking my statement. That is the problem with the educated elite in our dear country who speculate before doing their research work on a particular matter.
PK: It's not Nana Addo who took this matter to court; his accusers did, and he is duty-bound not only to respond, but also to keep his responses within the legal process. Yet, you're calling him names for doing just that!
STEVO: Yes, Justice Kpegah took Nana Addo to court on this simple matter which could long have been disposed of if Nana Addo had been forthcoming with the FACTS. For example, what is stopping him from telling us about when he attended Ghana School of Law for his post call course and some of the names of his classmates and lecturers. What is so difficult about this exercise unless of course he is trying to hide something from us. WHAT HAS HE TO HIDE?
PK: Moreover, there are various people in Ghana who accuse Nana Addo of one thing or another either to gain political capital or to rationalise personal failures.
STEVO: You have simply forgotten that Nana Addo is a prominent public figure who is aspiring to be our FIRST CITIZEN. To this end, he must be scrunitized to establish his impeccable public recofd. That is the duty of our the citizery. So where is the envy?
PK: At Legon, I knew a student at the Law Faculty who always rationalised his poor grades thus: even Nana Addo with all his "too known" attitude had a Third Class in Law at Legon. What this friend was trying to prove was that she too could become a successful lawyer with her poor grades. That's fair enough. But the problem is that Nana Addo never studied law at Legon!
STEVO: That is a poor example. Save that for the kids.
PK: To expect Nana Addo to respond to all these silly allegations in the public is just insane!
STEVO: Do you seriously think asking for Nana Addo's law certificates and whether he was properly enrolled are "silly" questions? You can do better. See how he is struggling to address these simple issues. Personally, I smell rat

2. Testimonial Note/Certificate: When you lose your certificate, you may request to be immediately issued with a certifying testimonial or copies of certificates.

b. You have not provided any evidence that as the Administrative Secretary, acting or substantive, Mr. Brew could not issue the note and sign for his boss.
C. For purposes of proving that someone is/was a member of an organisation, an official testimonial is a legal document. Nana Addo lawyers did not err in attaching the testimonial notes with the affidavit, and nothing stops them from bringing further evidence to court as the case proceeds.
d. Given (a), (b) and (c) above, the best you can do is to wait for this court case to proceed for all the material evidence to come out. To come and sit on Ghanaweb casting unsubstantiated allegations when you you don't have the full facts is stupid to say the least.

PK: Testimonial Note/Certificate: When you lose your certificate, you may request to be immediately issued with a certifying testimonial or copies of certificates.
STEVO: For your information, such a note can NEVER replace the duplicate of a lost certificate. According to Nana Addo he requested and was given the note as far back as 2007. So what has he been doing since then.
More pertinently, why doesn't he contact the JUDICIAL SECRETARY FOR COPIES OF HIS AUTHENTICATED COPY OF HIS QUALIFYING CERTIFICATE ISSUED BY THE GENERAL LEGAL COUNCIL IN 1975 when he was called to the bar? Don't you find it absolutely ridiculously that Nana Addo and his astute lawyers have not embarked on such a simple exercise?
PK: You do not know whether Nana Addo did indeed request copies of his certificate
STEVO: What is the essence of preaching transparency and sunshine to the electorate if Nana Addo can't put those invaluable principles into practice. Are you telling in all seriousness that we should put Nana Addo on the witness stand to ferret out an answer as to whether he requested for copies from either the General Legal Council or the Judicial Secretary? Do you know realize why I say that Nana Addo is using the courts processes to FUDGE THE ISSUE AS TO WHETHER HE WAS DULY AND PROPERLY ENROLLED TO PRACTISE LAW IN GHANA?
PK: or why he chose to ask for a testimonial from the General Legal Council.

PK: You have not provided any evidence that as the Administrative Secretary, acting or substantive, Mr. Brew could not issue the note and sign for his boss.
STEVO: I ask again, upon what credible evidence did he issue that NOTE? None so far as the public record is concerned. Interesting times are ahead of us
PK:. For purposes of proving that someone is/was a member of an organisation, an official testimonial is a legal document. Nana Addo lawyers did not err in attaching the testimonial notes with the affidavit, and nothing stops them from bringing further evidence to court as the case proceeds.
STEVO: In light of my responses above, you should bow your head in shame for insulting me just because I happen to disagree with you. You know down the bottom of your heart that Nana HAS A BIG CASE TO ANSWER AND THE PUBLIC IS RIGHT TO BE ASKING ALL THE PROBING QUESTIONS.

STEVO: It is mind boggling that you are behaving as if we don't have a right to pass intelligent comments on such a public matter and that our only recourse lies in keep mute just because the matter is before the court. Are you are coward or what? I don't begrudge Nana Addo for using the courts processes to protect the unprotectable. After all it's his right. But never forget that it is also our right as bona fide citizens of this nation to asking those intelligent and provocative questions. Isn't that the beauty of selling our ideas in the public place?
PK: To come and sit on Ghanaweb casting unsubstantiated allegations when you you don't have the full facts is stupid to say the least.
STEVO: There you go again. From the above, I hope you are going to reconsider your empty statement above. Why do you think you have a right to defend Nana Addo's indefensible position but I don't have a right to ask all those intelligent questions and make my own reasonable pronouncements? Think seriously about this before making any further comments.
PK. If you think the example I gave about my friend rationalising his poor grades with false claims about Nana Addo is silly and childish, then that's precisely why Nana Addo won't waste his time responding to foolish allegations.
STEVO: I thought that your friend was a female. So much for that self-serving story.
PK: Nana Addo has been a human rights advocate.
STEVO: Can you please stop patronizing us with this nonsense that Akufo-Addo has been a human rights advocate? A human rights advocate who wanted to divide the country along tribal lines just to win power? Where was this human right advocate when his supporters went on rampage after the elections?
PK: At the IEA debate, he insisted that he would rather we tolerated all these libellous allegations than gag free speech.
STEVO: He is a smart fellow, our Akufo-Addo. If he thought or thinks that those allegations are libellous, his recourse is to pay a visit to oour High Court. After all, isn't he a lawyer? The choice is his.
PKz: True to his colours, he ignored all the stupid fabrications about him from the NDC.
STEVO: How is he going to ignore this Justice Kpegah suit that has really opened a can worms? He is going to come face to face with Justice Kpegah. Hopefully, this case is disposed of as judicious and swiftly as possible.

If we allow propagandists to impugn the integrity of others without putting on them the burden of proof, we'll be debasing the quality of our political discourse. Exactly how helpful is it that a particular party continues to use malicious vilification of formidable opponents as its central electoral strategy, thereby swaying public debate from the discussion of policy options? We're already seeing the NDC's modus operandi in the way they're handling the doctors' strike. Members of the amorphous government communication team have been going around claiming that the doctors want to be paid all their allowances at once. But the GMA has made no such demand. Instead, they want the government to commit to paying all their arrears up to 2013 on an agreed and regular schedule. Rather than deal with the real concerns of the doctors, the government prefers to use propaganda to obfuscate the issues in order to turn public opinion against the doctors. How does this sort of behaviour solve the serious problems we face?
STEVO, you're obviously an intelligent man, but you offered nothing but a poor job at lazy hair-splitting. Fundamentally, you haven't provided evidence or even a well-reasoned argument for any of your charges against Nana Addo in this matter. And you cannot hide behind your right to ask questions of public figures to injure the reputation of another. The legal process itself is informed by the principles of fairness and natural justice, one of which principles is that an accused be deemed innocent until proven guilty. Mind you, categorical claims do not become questions because you precede them with "why". Unless for political capital or personal vendetta, exactly what do you gain by rushing to condemn the man with spurious, unsubstantiated claims?
How do you, for example, know that Nana Addo never made any effort to obtain copies of his certificates just because he hasn't caused same to be published publicly? I still maintain that anyone would be out of their mind to expect that Nana Addo would post his certificates on public notices just because he is a public figure whose professional qualifications are being called into question by political opponents noted for malicious propaganda.
Fortunately, this matter is in court, Nana Addo is in the dock as you gleefully put it, and the man's lawyers will have to provide evidence to clear their client's name. Can we just wait and see how the case unfolds rather than sit on Ghanaweb playing the devious judge that convicted an accused even before the case was heard?
By the way, STEVO, I detest the NDC for its penchant to win and govern by propaganda. This makes me view the NPP with some respect. But I'm not a member of the NPP. While I don't support their case in the Supreme Court, I respect their CONSTITUTIONAL right to seek redress in the appropriate forum.

PK, Good morning. I just woke up here in my village. The good news is that I have a generator that gives me electricity. So I can easily charge my laptop. Of course, I have to bear the high cost of petrol to power it. That is just by the way.
Now to the substantive issues you raised.
I. To keep this conversation alive in a mature way, I refuse to disclose the political party I support. I am surprised that you think the NDC is the only party that employes propaganda to carry out its activities. The dirty tricks, aka propaganda, run across board. That explains why the most egregious of crimes go unpunished in this country. That further explains why millions and millions of our people continue to wallow in abject poverty with no hope in sight. Propaganda has taken center stage in all national endeavors and our leaders - including those in the NPP - have capitalized on this phenon to plunder the nation's resources with the active support of foreign capital. If not, how do you explain why all these fantastic buildings springing up every single day in Ghana but our streets are filled with human tragedies. Just pay a visit to any of our major hospitals and your heart will bleed. They talk about NHIS but trust me, our hospitals and polyclinics are death traps! Again, pay a visit to Airport city and Circle in Accra at time and you will weep for mother Ghana.
The baffling question is: Although we are said to be the third fastest growing economy in the world, the milling majority don't feel it in their pockets. We see deprivation and humiliation written all over the sad faces the poor and downtrodden. We are where we are because the two major political parties have done practically nothing to alleviate the plight of majority of our people since the advent of the 4TH Republican Constitution. Rather, we continue to see the perpetuation of fraud and commission of gargatuan economic crimes in the country. Just take a look at the Auditor General's annual report and you will weep for money Ghana. Again, go behind all those state enterprises that were sold and you will know who the real owners are!
So much for preaching. Now let me get back to this Nana Addo's issue. It still baffles me that somebody has to drag Nana Addo to court before he will be able to tell us whether he was properly enrolled to practise law in Ghana. What is so difficult putting out a statement outlining how he got on the roll of lawyers? If he can't answer this simple public inquiry, what is the guarantee that he is going to be forthright with us if he is ever given the mantle to run affairs of the state called Ghana. It is this type of impunity from our leaders that is killing this nation. And it runs throughout our nation.
At this juncture, you see why some of us think that there is more to this story than Justice Kpegah's suit reveals? WE MUST NEVER FORGET THAT NANA ADDO IS ASPIRING TO BE OUR FIRST CITIZEN AND IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT WE ASK THE TOUGH QUESTIONS NO MATTER HOW UNCOMFORTABLE.
Now, he is telling us that he has lost his qualifying certificate issued by the General Legal Council. We all know that he can easily get copies of the authenticated one he dutifully filed with the Judicial Secretary in 1975 when he was called to the bar. Unless, of course, he wants to tell us that that one too in the custody of the Judicial Secretary is missing.
i hope you would agree with me why I keep asking those categorical and emphatic questions because I strongly believe that something is not right about the way Nana Addo has addressed this serious national matter. This has nothing to do with politics. ]t has everything to do with the integrity of our leaders.
Meanwhile, the fact that the case is in court does not in any way preclude concerned citizens from raising serious issues about the matter. Such discussions fall well within their constitutional right of free speech under the 1992 Constitution.
In short, nobody is running down Nana Addo. He has created a surreal world and inquirying minds are right to ask those tough questions. Nana Addo has all the power to bring closure to this public matter. If he wants a drawn out public battle, that is his choice.
On a very personal note, I have no personal motive to impugn the integrity of Nana Addo. My goal in this free speech enterprise is to seek the truth and nothing but the truth. I don't play politics with somebody's reputation. If asking hard and uncomfortable questions makes me a political hack so be it.
The paramount interest of the nation is prime when I engage in this kind of conversation.
Take care.

Kofi, I am proud of you for always delving into the issues for facts like these unlike those who just insult and think that aprt from them nobody else is knowledgeable.
We now have some aspects of the matter clarified and we await for somebody else to clarify the rest. We now know for sure that WAD Akufo Addo was called to the Bar in the UK. We also know that NAD Akufo Addo was not the person who was called to the Bar in the UK.
The missing link is whether WAD and NAD are the same person. What we now need is documentation to prove this and this should normally be quite simple documentation on change of name.
I have said in the past that for me personally it does not matter if such a name change was officially done or not as substance for me precedes form.
However, if one believes in this principle then it must run through our behaviour and perception of life. We must not pick and choose when it suits us. If you are too legalistic then you must follow it through.
Remember that the Middle Temple is emphatic about the point that NAD Akufo Addo was never admitted to the Bar through them. If therefore NAD is holding himself out as WAD, it constitutes impersonation unless proven otherwise by an official name change.

Read the headlines and you will get my drift. How can Ghana be so broke in an era where we have addition revenue from the oil fields? We do we have to show for all the wasteful spending and looting? The fact that the election has been certified by international observers means nothing. Let the SC of Ghana determine whether the election was rigged or not. Simple.

Well unfortunately I think it has got to a point where even if the truth emerges that WAD and NAD is the same person, some people will still refuse to believe. Nana Akufo Addo should not belittle this matter. It may turn into a criminal prosecution. If he is in doubt,he should ask the former Bawku MP, Mr. Sakande. If Nana Akufo Addo does not know what to do, he should contact the British Council in Accra who would be of immense help to him.Alternately, he can write himself to where he obtained his Law Degree with the his registration details.Even if he has forgotten some of his details he should provide them with date of entry and date of exit his date of birth and his picture.
I am however doubtful if any British Institution would respond to an enquirer based on an ordinary e-mail communication for an important matter like this? It is not for anyone to request for the details on behalf of Akufo Addo himself.

Kofi please let be objective you have not revealed or said anything new that we do not already know. But thanks for the confrimation reports.
All we asking for is AK's enrolemnt and qualifying certifcates and the institutions that awarded them. Period.
Yes, we all knew he was admitted to the Middle Temple Bar. It is on his CV. But could he not have gone back for a copy of his qualifying certificate than to procure a shady handwritten NOTE as proof of his attendance at Middle Temple.
Secodly, to qualify to practice law in Ghana, one has to attend the Ghana Law School for at least 2yrs. At the time there was only one law school in Ghana ( Makola Law School)Did Akufo Addo attend Ghana law School? if so, why could they not have given him a duplicate qualifying certificate than a mere NOTE.
Kofi. judging by the comments posted so far you are getting all the praises for your work.
But let's ask the pertinent questions. Did Akufo addo attend Law school in Ghana? Was he awarded a qualifying certificate? Why was he the only candidate enrolled on the 8 July 1975? Why was AK the person not to have signed the erollment register?
Who was/is Kwaku Agyeman Dua Prempeh Akufo addo's law firm partner whose name is not on the enrolment register in Ghana?
We are waiting for answers. Let the faint hearted not so soon jump to conclusion. The battle is not yet won.

I am glad Middle Temple has confirmed there was indeed a WAD but could it be our beloved Nana? As part of his Triller in Manila publication, he stated one WAD was murdered under mysterious circumstances in London or Ghana and buried under mysterious circumstances. Who knows Justice Kpegah's evidences and which is why he will only talk in Court. All these vile attacks are because they chose to challenge the election results in court.
The NDC, as a violent Party, would have prefered the NPP to resort to violence so that they could join in.

And why should Nana Addo post his certificate on Ghanaweb? If posting your certificate on public notices is the new requirement for being a flag-bearer, please quote the relevant amended section of the Constitution or statute. We shall then ask President Mahama to post his certificates and CV on all public notices for our perusal. You'd be shocked the can of worms this would open up, including the claims he has made on different occasions about the number of children he has and the type of degree he earned in Moscow. Fortunately, unlike the NDC, the NPP is made up of men of substance who don't believe in a campaign of vilification against opponents. Nor, would they respond to one. I'm not member of the NPP, but this is one thing I've come to respect about the NPP as a party. The NDC's penchant for useless propaganda makes me sick!
For now, Nana Addo's professional qualifications are being challenged by a leading member of the NDC in court, and it's in court, NOT on Ghanaweb or on any other public notice, that Nana shall file evidence of any legal documents- be they testimonials or certificates- to prove his qualifications. Anyone who wants Nana Addo to go beyond what's required by law to post his certificate on Ghanaweb should first set the example by posting their own certificates here.

I blame Dr Bokor who has demeaned intellectual objectivity and is heading this really stupid campaign. It is sad that a PhD holder would lead such campaign. The point is that Bokor gives PhD, nay, higher education, a bad name! His effusions on Ghanaweb are spurious and illogical. He doesn't hold himself to any standards of integrity. Instead, his hallmark is mendacity and prevarication. Unlike you, STEVO, I offer evidence for my claims:
1. Ahead of the Dec. 2012 elections, he joined the chorus claiming that one WAD Akufo-Addo was dismissed from Oxford and that this person (WAD) and Nana Addo are one and the same.
2. Only months later, after Nana Addo challenged the outcome of the elections in the Supreme Court, Bokor has done a volte face, this time claiming the contrary that Nana Addo is impersonating the same WAD who was allegedly dismissed from Oxford and was supposed to be Nana Addo.
3. Bokor created fictitious authorities to whom he attributed claims that that Nana Addo couldn't have been called to the Bar in England or worked as a lawyer with Coudert Brothers LLP. Apparently, Bokor's authority/source, a professor of law in the UK, doesn't know the meaning and role of Associate Counsel in a law firm. Nor, could Bokor, a PhD, do a simple search to educate himself!

Why can't your Boss Akufo Addo do this simple thing you have done for him, for the last six years or more to clear the air. When did he find his certificate missing? And when did he notify the General legal council, that his certs are missing? According to records available, this was as far back as 2007. If Nana is a genuine Lawyer and has informed the institution which trained him and the Middle Temple as a legal society, I can absolutely tell you, he would have got his certificates back with maybe a token fine. My friend you can't deceive anyone here okay! We are not kids. Your master is a criminal and doesn't belong to his bedroom but the four corners of our prisons. The fact that he was operating without cert since 2007, if that is true tells you there is something fishy going on in your boss's life.Whatever information you sought from Middle Temple is not certificates. If indeed he was called to the English bar, let them as well, come out with his certificate. It's not by mouth, not by words or by e-mails but by certs. Remember when the VP Amissa, was being accused of faking his Master's degree, he had to produce his cert to shame his critics. As well, former President Clinton was forced to produce his passport to confirmed his US citizenship, when the Republican party and Gorge Bush senior, were accusing Clinton of changing his citizenship during the Vietnam war. And don't forget, Obama has to do the same to prove Donald Trump wrong. Why can't Nana Addo, follow suit? Sir, it's about time this man come out clean.
