Ghanaians have a self defeating attitude and expectations that govt will rescue them from poverty.Govt is only there to give ya a level playin field then most of the effort is yours.Look around and see plenty signs that we don't like hard work to escape poverty.The coruption,the shitting everywhere,the dirty homes,our trashy streets and the poorly done shacks on the streets all point to a culture of seeking the eay way out.Then come abroad and see the discipline,the rules and the stringent organization of everything and you see why these folks will always be richer and lord it over us.If you smell the anus of poverty in Ghana,then your very anus might serve as a figurative example.We're simply too lazy,too escapist,too scared of stringent rules,too unwilling to put in the effort that is required to escape poverty.The shacks,the filth always remind me of this unfortunate culture that is the building block of our poverty.If our anuses smell poverty,then its bcoz we're too lazy to wipe 'em just like we're too indisciplined on everything else.Our poverty is of our own making

No,no its wrong to shift all blame to leadership.What i hear ya sayin actually reinforces what is wrong with us.To expect others to take bold decisions and wait for leadership reinforces the wrong Ghanaian culture of takin the path of least resistance,the culture of letting others take the brunt of impact and waiting for the spoils.This is what has led us to the rot we're in.It takes courage to endure the sharp pains of self advancement rather than wait for the dull pain of unconsciousness that always leads to being average or subpar.In other words,looking to others to endure the pains for them.I count him braver who overcomes his weaknesses than him who overcomes his enemies.Teach Ghanaians to take the hard rd,the tough decisions for themselves and you're 2/3rds of the way to solving our problems.The best leader is not the one who does the most for his people,its the one who inspires his people to advance themselves the most.

Individuals can do their best in the private market but when it comes to the provision of public goods - roads; utilities;public health etc, the individual can't do jack. The government must provide the infrastructure and enabling environment. They must set the tone. I don't mean a huge public sector.
The poor rely the most on public goods and suffer the most from corruption. They have to pay bribes for basic needs. Bad leadership perpetuates poverty.

This is a quotation from the US declaration of independence, "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." Without life liberty and the pursuit of happiness are not possible. What constitutes a good life? We were all thought the characteristics of a living thing: eating, reproduction, dying etc. All we need is to ply through these with dignity. One thing is certain, life is short.
