Hussein BabalWai,stop your your hypocrisy. You are one of those who live in the WHITEMAN'S country where the LAW is enforced without exception, yet you want Law enforcement agencies in Ghana to have "sympathy, empathy, compassion, mercy, etc".Yours is ABSOLUTE NONSENSE.We are rather a laughing stock because we don't enforce laws.Is this how people build houses in the United States? This is why Ghana is still far behind in terms of development.

Raymond, you are dead right. Just take a drive on the motorway and any patriotic Ghanaian would sad by the way the politicians have sold land meant for the expansion of the motorway. The TDC is absolutely right in the demolition. Those who construct on the wrong land should blame themselves when the demolition men and women come.
Take the case of the Tamale forest reserve in the centre of the town. People are building in the reserve, despite the fact that it is illegal. Same with those building on the spintex main road from Cocacola through Goldern gate.

I do think Hussein's piece is concerned about the inhuman treatment meted out to these vulnerable individuals as a result of their parents bad judgement and or the unsolicited demolition by TDC backed by the powers that be.

Yes, TDC could have still carried out the demolition by going through the right procedures to do that without any uncalled for repercussions.
That said, I will urge the powers concerned to settle the affected individuals reasonably given the terse situation in which we are in now.
At any rate, Hussein, morality has to be dissociated with legality.

its about time for Ghanaians to call a spade a spade and not a tool for digging. there are rules and regulations in the country but there are so many people who feel they are above the law and can do whatever they want because they know some so called BIG MAN or related to a politician. America , UK or europe will not be where they are today if they exercise and practice what Ghanaians are going through today.no individual can go to any of these countries mentioned above to go build at a site which is designated for other purpose. some Ghanaians will even build at such locations whiles they know they do not have documents to such locations but because they have money to buy the authorities and some political support they will try to show people that they are THE MEN and can do whatever they want. a senator in the U.S.A spends $40,000 of government money and goes to jail for years moreover a minister or MP in Ghana spends over billions of dollars and walk free. if we really want to have a better Ghana agenda as advertised, then Ghanaians need to put our feet on the ground and enforced the laws in Ghana for every Ghanaian to abide by the rules. I agree to the fact that if u do not have proper documents to build and you take the power into your own hands and build you should not complain when there is any kind of demolishing whatsoever. a word to the wise is enough

I know someone which is building at a site which has been demarcated for a street. Ghanaians are very undisciplined and that is why the law must be allowed to take its course. In Ghana, let someone commit a murder and people would plead mercy on his/her side. All the houses built indiscriminately must come down, houses built on waterways, etc. must all come down. No mercies.
