Since Ghanaweb and modernghana have challenges replicating the tables, I'd advise keen readers to follow this link and read a properly outlayed version on spyghana.

For those who want to read more on the issue, simply google for Solomon Kwawukume and you'd learn about horrendous deal we are being subjected to.

Thanks for the fight. Can you do a model mass petition letter for some of us to sign on and send to our parliamentarians?
That may help spread the news to the people.

Brilliant! This story runs through all the extractive industries in Ghana. We have been raped of the revenue from the minerals that have been mined in our country for decades, sanctioned by laws that our governments and legislators have passed! The minerals law passed in 2003 actually allows the foreign mining companies to keep 100%, yes 100% of earnings in foreign in offshore accounts. Parliament itself was shocked in Sept 2013 that some foreign gold mining companies had lodged 100% of their earnings in offshore accounts. I was not illegal, the law allowed them to do it. Our governments and legislators have learned nothing from this and are going to repeat the rape by proposing a new law that will virtually hand over the oil and gas sector to the foreign companies! When the ordinary Ghanaian shouts that with all the minerals, timber and oil that is being exported, why should we be suffering, the answer lies in the fact that we are getting little or nothing from the revenues from these industries. The gold in Obuasi is nearly finished, but the question is what is there in Obuasi to show that it a town in which for a century, gold has been mined in large quantities and exported. Our leaders do not have the knowhow and the courage to negotiate agreements beneficial to us when it comes to the natural resources. It would be better if the oil was left in the ground than earn a paltry 17%? from the revenue.
Interesting, very interesting. Need more expatiation on the numbers based on the various sets of agreements.
