Kwesi you seemed to have tried hard but failed. Have you ever read an article from Okoampa Ahoofe, Adofo Rockson, Yawose John, Katakyie and co? They have written countless articles here on Ghana web and have reminded us a thousand times that the NPP is an Akan party.
Okoampa who is a nephew of Nana Addo, who also doubles as a strong NPP member of the NY chapter just today wrote an article in which he referred to Northners and Ewes as Atingas and Trokosis. What evidence do you need.
Have you forgotten the famouse Victor Owusu comment? What about Nana's own Yen Akanfuo comment to Kennedy's Kill Gas and Ewes?
There is no denying that the NPP does not have any manifesto that says Akans only party but unfortunately some Akan supremacist have hijacked the party and wanted to hide behind it to carry out their form of retributive justices or revenge to the wrongs they perceived were done to them during the Rawlins era and their perceived enemies are members of the minority community especially the Ewe tribe where Rawlings mom hails from.
Not until the NPP frees itself from such people who also doubles as loose talkers or people that talk by heart the NPP will always be treated like the republican party n the USA despite its better economic achievements.
Mind you i do not live in Ghana, cannot vote and do not plan to vote in the future but have interacted with numerous Ghanaians of all etnicities.
Also your analysis of Akans making over 70% of Ghana's population is wrong. You may see many people in Akan areas that were born and raised there but that does not mean they are all Akan or 100% Akan. Most of them are Northern, Ewe, and other minority migrants that have lived in those societies fro centuries. Dont be deceived by their perfect ability to speak Twi.

What a fallacy! Didn't your grandfathers crucified Nkrumah for doing exactly that. Nkrumah built primary schools your villages, boarding schools in your regions, gave you free education, built Akosombo dam to provide power to the factories he built in your rural areas and yet Busia and co wanted to split the nation (matemeho) and caused mayhem because they did not have their way or beat him in elections. When Nkrumah introduced social programs to help the poor you called him a communist. By the way, YOU CREATE WEALTH WHEN PEOPLE ARE FIRST EDUCATED AND EMPLOYED. And that was what Nkrumah sought out to do.
Today you guys enjoy life in Tema when you criticized him for wasting money to build Tema harbour and township.
You criticized him for wasting money to build Akosombo dam and today you cry when you experience dumso dumso.
You said he wasted money on Tema moto-way and today you enjoy the moto-way in your luxury cars.
You said he wasted money on Job 600 and allowed it to deteriorate and today our parliamentarians don't have offices to work in.
You said he wasted money on Tema oil refinery (severely underestimating its value) and today we wish we could refine our own oil from the oil fields in Western Nzema.

2000 years of Akan glorious history can not be replaced by 50 just because ndc , nkrumah pepeni and ayigbe criminals say so or want it so. Today i listen to my psalms , hymns and war songs by bob marley and 2pac just like David who composed for the Israelis so remain inspired. i look out of my window and count myself blessed that i have not fallen prey to these fake prophets and priests whose only aim is to collect collection more than 10 times during a service but have the clarity of mind to meditate alone and offer thanks to God. What ever they say i know its the opposite , if they say look right you better quickly closely observe whats happening on the left. the say the economy is grown then you must know its a disaster , they say they are working on fixing the economy , know for sure they are only stealing , infighting now they have marginalized all influence of the Akans the pepeni and ayigbe crminals are now looking to eliminate each other , they say they have found new investors know they have discovered new ways to exploit and channel our money away. they say our women are short and ugly but look at the stinking rats and vulture they can women in their tribes and you you will know ours are the most beautiful in the world . they say they want cooperation but they are only looking to rubbish or steal good projects . they say they want the well-being of the ordinary man but in reality they only want to line their pockets with money and push the Akan further into poverty . they say they want an all inclusive govt but know they just want cement northern and ayigbe domination with their slave tribes like the Gas and some foolish brainwashed brongs , ashantis , fantis assisting them. they say they are evaluating ministers and other appointees but it is now a battle between the ayigbe and the pepeni to reduce the number of ayigbe since the Akans are all already irrelevant in their govt although we are the majority in this land . everywhere you go you find pepeni vultures looking over the carcass of Ghana and tearing out the flesh of wealth for their own greedy selfish selves . they are comfortable now as the critical mass of the people still think things will get better little do they know its beyond repair and can only be remedied with an organized uprising of the Akan. the npp seems to be cleaning house and thanks to ken agyapong most likely true fighters will emerge who will not throw in the towel like nana addo did just before the true battle starts due to cowardice. yes we are ready and will never surrender to these thieves and criminals , long live the republic of Akan

In to days Ghana all people matter no matter their history and ethnicity. One group cannot win political power on the basis of its former glory, history and or ethnicity. ghanaians are aware and well informed. they read and listen to what is being written and said over all the media and social networks. What i want NPP members and sympathizers to understand is that the decision to win elections is vested in the electorates of all of Ghana. The must earn the respect and win the support of the majority of voters in order to ascend to power again. it is not the birthright of anyone to become president of Ghana. Akans must understand that as much as is their legitimate right to bask in their past glory all the time, the ultimate right to engine to ride to victory in Ghana does not rest in their past glory. That is the power of the people of Ghana. it is one man one vote; irrespective of where you come from. I will cast my vote for those who respect my feelings and my rights and honor as a human being no matter how uncivilized and poor i might be. Long live Ghana, long live democracy.

Let those with closed mind believe that nonsense that NPP is for only Akans. Those who lead the party during presidential elections, are chosen by the party delegates who come across the entire nation. And what should not exit our mind is we need "competent people" to lead. People who understand the dynamics of government and how to put good policies to the advantage of all and sundry.
Ghanaians are not "Laboratory animals" who should be used for "experimental purposes". NDC blew the "the tribal nonsense" against NPP and won and who is suffering? Kufuor ruled without no oil and NDC is swimming in a "raging river of oil" and what do we see? Incompetency, stupidity, crass idiocy and above thievery. Is that how to rule to make the live of people better?
Let NDC keep using that tribal shit against NPP and the entire nation suffers. Ghana is bleeding profusely under this reckless and useless government but in the end, who gain? It is those who use the "Akanization" to further their diabolical intention.

I dont think any one hated Akans as much as you may have been thought by your parents. Most ethnic hate which exist in most of Africa was mostly based on past tribal wars whereas in the case of Ghana most of those wars were among fellow Akan states than with other ethnic minorities. Therefore such hate cannot be existing among any group towards the other in Ghana.
The problem most minorities have is with the Akan supremacist elements within the NPP and not all Akans per se. How do you expect a Northner or an Ewe man to supoort the NPP when the nephew of the NPP leader who also doubles as a strong member of the NPP NY chapter kwame Okoampa Ahoofe writes an article dedicated to the NPP and refers to them as Atinga?
I bet if the shoes were on your foot you will feel the same. There are too many good Akans to make such a sweeping statement as hating Akans. Nkrumah was an Akan and yet most ppl voted for him because he was a visionary that believed in Africa instead of tribe. Nkrumah type Akans arent too common in the NPP leadership now.

Kwesi, nice try, but I am not in the least convinced that the NPP is not Akan-driven, Akan-influenced and Akan-inspired .......to put more trenchantly, its DNA is Akan, pure and simple...its agenda is geared towards restoring Akans to the commanding heights of Ghana's political and economic power structure....and it did not help that it sidelined the late Aliu Mahama whose nomination would have gone a long way to alter the public's perception of the party as a tribal enclave...help it to shed that awful label....but more crucially, Mahama's nomination would have ultimately sent a signal to northerners that the party was fast changing its tribal tone, becoming more inclusive and tolerant of other ethnic groups.....what is more, the NPP would made immense inroads in the regions.
To stop the bad press the NPP must undergo some real fundamental changes....a northerner ought to be at the head of the party in 2016....anything short of that will be counterproductive and only reinforce the belief among millions of Ghanaians that the party is solely for Akans.....

If you that dumb, let me tell you that the delegates who elects NPP leaders are chosen from all the TEN REGIONS IN WITH EQUAL REPRESENTATIONS. Do not us this site to throw dust into the eyes of those who visit here with baseless facts. Who told you that most of the delegates of NPP are from the Ashanti region?
Ghana is retrogression and who is paying for that? I think all NDC members are being spoon-fed while NPP and others are gnashing their teeth in search of their daily bread.

Why is NPP being labeled "Akan party"? The reason is simple. The party will never elect a foolish person as their leader. Just cast your mind back to Limann. What did he do? His incompetency forced JJ to overthrow him and look at Mahama. The man is acting as if he is lost in an endless desert.
Marcus, not everybody can lead as a leader and that is what NDC do not understand. They prefer to rotate the leadership of the nation which is impossible because we are not "Lab animals who should be used for experimental purposes".

Pleas, don't compare Ghana politics to that of US. You conviniently left out the other half of my post. If you don't mind, go back and attempt to answer that: the quintessentially religious based bit. It is not constitutional for NDC to be an "Natafuor party", neither would it be constitutional for NPP to be an "Akanfuor party". Nor can we have a "Tigari party" or "Ga-Shifimo party".

The writer's major problem is to conflate Political Akan with Ethnographic Akan. When Ghanaians say NPP is an Akan party, they DO NOT MEAN Akan as ethnographers will define it which will include Nzimas and the Bawules. They simply mean a political Akan that comprises those who speak the Twi language (Asante, Akyem and also Fanti). Since this designation is made by non-Akan speakers in the country, they don't really care who are ethnographically Akan. They only see those people speaking the Twi language. And they act on that reality. They see that NPP always chooses a presidential candidate who is a native Twi speaker and they act on that reality.
The writer's attempt to show that NPP appoints non-Akans to top posts in the party also misses the point. What non-Akans see as the face of the party is its presidential candidate, not its running made or chairman. It is the presidential candidate who becomes the president of Ghana with the vice only a second best. Ghanaians don't go to the polls to vote for the running mate or the party Chairman. It is the presidential candidate who counts and he is the one who defines the Akanness of the party.
As for social programs in pursuit of distributive justice, the writer assumes that NPP is the better party at this. The fact is that both major parties pursue such goals but through slightly different methods and with varying degrees of thoroughness. NPP has not been more successful at this than NDC. The people have seen this. They have also seen something else: the extent to which operatives of both parties enrich themselves. They are more sensitive to this than the effects of redistributive efforts on them personally which are very minimal.
The writer also says Ghanaians vote(d) for NPP because of its policies and not so much the Akan this or that. But in Ghana, only the middle class is sensitive to party programs in its voting choices. And the middle class, even if expanding, is minimal. The rest of the people vote en mass, almost with their eyes closed, depending on tribal affiliations, historical reasons and personal affiliations that have nothing to do with party programs. That is why there are so few changes in the voting patterns of Asantes, Akyems, Ewes, Fantis and Gas - the last two historically sharing their votes between the two traditional blocks in Ghana.

Hayford, I want to correct you if you will allow me. It is not true that Akans form 70% of the total populations of Ghana. Infact, they are less than 48%. Get that fact in your head! I also want to tell you that, no amount of whatever you say can change what you people are made of. There is a something that worries me so much when it comes to the use of the word Akan. There are decent and well brought up Akans out there who I think, are always embarrassed by some of those bigots who have such Akan supremacy in thier genes. You know them, I know them, all of us know them. If I were Hayford, I would have asked myself why the other Akan tribes do not side with the Ashanti/ Akyems in particular in this country. Fantes are not like that, neither are the Bonos and the Westerners. Is it therefore suprised that these people did not vote for the NPP, and will still do it again? The answer is that, the Ashantis/ Akyems have no respect for no other people, especially the Aahantis who incidentally, are the most illiterates among the so called Akan tribes. No amount of what you put up here can change anything. Every now and then, we are witnessing it. Look at what you people are doing to Afoko and the rest? Why was he targeted and no other person? How often haven´t we hear those dirty tribal bigots like Ahoofe, Parry Akurrang, aka Akadu Mensema, Rockson and the rest of the deformed brain idiots showing their bush behaviour on this site. Please give us a break! Ghanaians know who you are. If Akufo Addo himself has come out to say the NPP is Akan party, who are you to challenge him? Do not be decieved that votes from the NPP strogn holds for the NPP are votes from the so called Ashanti/Akyems, though some might come from them. I wish that you people would always mention Ashanti or Akyem anytime you are getting out of your clone brains, instead of mentioning the wolrd Akans, which is a big embrrassement to decent Akans.

Hatred indeed blinds people. You seem to have worked yourself up with so much hatred you can't even think straight. When you people forged some fake tape recording of Kofi Adams and stood on those grounds to suspend him from the party what was that? Why was he targeted and no other person? Or because he is from the same tribe as you that makes it okay? How different is that from what some idiot did to Afoko? When Aseidu Nketia called the founder of NDC a mad dog that was okay becasue he is one of yours?
You have the nerve to ask stupid questions about an individual lying about Afoko to get him disqualified.
What lies didn't fifi kwetey and Victor Smith tell the whole nation about Kufuor in 2007 prior to the 2008 elections only to confess during their vetting in 2009? To you that was okay, what lies and insutls haven't you people dished out to Nana Addo with your own Justice Kpegah a whole former high court judge joining the bandwagon all out of hatred. Your hatred for ashantis has made you irrational and you fail to see that the very things you mention in your comment have or are happening in the NDC too.
Where did Akufo Addo come out to say NPP is an akan party? When John Mahama said northners should vote for him because he is a northerner did that make NDC a northerners party? Or when Mahama said Northerners are tired of the vice presidential slot was he being tribal? You people have got yourself so worked up on this ashanti/akyem thing it's clouded your judgement to the extent you end up making irrational arguments. So far there is nothing you have said which has any relevance. If you respect yourself, why care whether someone respects you or not unless you have an inferiority complex. Infact if you think someone does not respect you, there are more positive ways of showing that person you are more civilised and a better person than they are, so far, your rants here does not show you to be someone who respects himself, why would anyone else respect you in this case?
We as a people are all different, we learn to live with people who are different from us and act differently. Even siblings from the same father and mother are different.
It is amazing how some of you come on here and insult akans to your hearts content and think it is okay to do. You are just as bad as the people or tribe you insult. The bottom line is you are exhibiting traits of jealousy, fear and intolerance which must be a trait of some bigots in your tribe. You are proof that no tribe is perfect, in ever tribe there are bigots and disrespectful individuals like you Peter Noah so what is your beef?
