Dear Brother,
I am happy to see you back.
I have been presenting my own essays on the greatest African, Kwame Nkrumah, for some time now on Ghana.
Your presence on Ghanaweb is timely because there is so much misinformation on Nkrumah that we need to neutralize.
Your analytic skills and broad historical knowledge are required at this critical moment. Moreover, those of us who know you and have critically studied your work acknowldge you as a well-informed authority on Nkrumah, CPP, and Gold Coast politics.
Anyway, I am presently reading your classic and influential work on Nkrumah "Kwame Nkrumah's Politico-Cultural Thought and Politics: An African-Centered Paradigm for the Second Phase of the African Revolution," the second time I am reading it.
However, I have recommended your book to my readers on a few occasions. I have also recommended your brilliant essays on Danquah and Busia, all published on Ghanaweb and elsewhere, to my Ghanaweb readers.
These essays and the present series you have already began to publish here should erase some of the misconceptions.
I have not kept in touch since the last time we communicated. Anyway, I have been in constant touch with Drs. Ama Mazama and Molefi Kete Asante, your tireless friends and colleagues. They should be in Brazil now, I guess Interestingly, Dr. Ama Mazama has asked me to write for Afrocentricity International. In fact, our restorative work on Ghanaweb has just begun.
Again, I am happy to see here again. Welcome back to Ghanaweb, Brother Botwe-Asamoah. I can't conceal my joy.
I shall get in touch.

A thing is as it is and nothing else. No volumes and tones endless writings on this forum can change the status quo. Nkrumah did not found Ghana alone. It took the collective works of some equally patriotic but patient and non radically calm doyens to lay down the foundation and nourished the road map to the attainment of the republic state of Ghana for which each and everyone of us cherish so much. Nkrumah played a major role to lead us to the promise land for which no one can dispute but for anyone to place jingoistic calls of irresponsibility to give sole credence to the visionary but brutish tyrant is what discerning Ghana cannot countenance. Ghana is so big for one person to have wrestled it from the all time powerful Britain and her equally powerful Western allies. What Kwarteng and his surrogates are doing will further deepen the cracks of 'divisionism for which Nkrumah and Rawlings and his NDC offered and continue to practice till date. They can deify Nkrumah but cannot force anyone to accept what common sense defies.

Dr. Botwe-Asamoah was my lecturer at the University of Ghana in 1987. I have enormous respect for him since he was also my friend and mentor. He is one of the best people I know.
But I have fundamental disagreement with him concerning Dr. Nkrumah although he tried to convert me to Nkrumahism...He once told me that Ghana's greatest need was the atomic bomb! So his views may be as moribund as that of the CPP he continues to follow when everybody knows that that party is dead.
In this essay, he looks at issues purely from an ideological prism and therefore cannot be expected to be objective. In his subsequent essays, I expect him to build upon the motif that Nkrumah was a model democrat.

"The main issues the UGCC had to resolve once Kwame Nkrumah arrived on December 8 1947, were confirmation of his appointment as general secretary, and affirmation of his salary and car, contained in Paa Grant’s letter".
"Thereafter, under Kwame Nkrumah’s capacity as General Secretary, the UGCC was formally launched in Saltpond on December 29, 1947. So, if everything was “cooked” before Kwame Nkrumah’s arrival, as some shame-faced individuals have claimed, why did this self-appointed “gentlemen’s club,” (UGCC) wait for Nkrumah to launch it in his capacity as General Secretary? In fact the idea that everything was “cooked” prior to the return of Nkrumah is totally false, if not hogwash".
Prof Botwe-Asamoah, from the above quotes, do you still stand by the position that nothing was done towards the launch of UGCC prior to Nkrumah's arrival?
If Nkrumah arrived on December 8, 1947 and the UGCC was launched on December 29, 1947, how much could he have done in 21 days (if nothing had been done towards the launch) bearing in mind the sort of communication facilities in the colony at that time?
There is no doubt that Kwame Nkrumah played a leading role in attaining independence for Gold Coast/Ghana but it is equally true that others played their role. He did not achieve independence alone. Let us be objective and recognise the roles played by others. That denial is partly the source political disunity in Ghana to the extent that the two leading political ideologies (Nkrumaist and UP tradition) consider themselves as enemies.

The Nkrumah and the Nkrumahists are the "matemehos". As the prof. himself avers, "Nkrumah assured them that he would not compromise with the reactionaries and reformists in the UGCC (Smertin) So, right from the beginning, Nkrumah understood his mission as returning to, inter-alia, liberate the Gold Coast from British colonialism, and make Ghana the liberated zone for the total liberation of the African continent,"
This statement confirms my long-held view that Nkrumah arrived in the country not to be a team player but with the intent to use and abandon the UGCC in order to feather and further his political ambitions. Thus his separatist agenda was from the very beginning.
He was later to separate himself from the team further by imprisoning some of his best friends.
Today, Prof. Botwe-Asamoah faithfully separates Nkrumah and sets him apart as the sole founder of Ghana.
The spirit of "matemeho" (separatism) began with Nkrumah and continues among his followers to this day. They broach no competition and tolerate no power-sharing.

Let me give you a layman’s interpretation of what is meant by those quoted paragraphs: Registering a dotcom name and not using it to provide online information, online transactions and or posting "Under construction" was the status of the UGCC prior to Nkrumah's arrival in Ghana.
Secondly the one who takes the registered dotcom and turns the site into a booming all too familiar modern sites do not have to share credits with the registrar of the dotcom. What this brain amputed Mate Meho revisionist lads forget is; it was Nkrumah who turned the Boys Club into a fully fledged Party.
The most silliest arguement from them is " We brought Nkrumah back to Gold Coast". As if Nkramah was waiting for them to do so. They sought Nkrumah's Services and not the other way round. It was as if they sent Nkrumah on errand to study abroad. What a hard to sell silly idea.
That undoubtedly Nkrumah was a self made man and was already making waves in Britain and overseas big time is quite clear. That his fame was in no in small Dimension but was being heard on the shores of west coast of Africa was also Crystal clear.
Nkrumah's ideas and that of the conservative block of the UGCC was two different pair of shoes. So it borders on silly to compare Nkrumah's freshness, energetic approach to the lousy lazy Boys who felt good in comfort City lifre zones whilst Nkrumah was trekking the Perimeters the colony under harsh conditions.
WHY SHOULD NKRUMAH DO THE DIRTY WORK AND SHARE THE FAME WITH THEM?
Nkrumah joined the Boys Club when it had no format and ONLY FOUR MONTHS OLD but the Mate Meho knaves try to project it as if UGCC had existed years before Nkrumah arrived.
Look the battle for Ghana's Freedom and leadership was fought and the only one winner who came out triumphantly was the one and only unchallengeable founding father - Nkrumah reigns supreme and his stamp is everywhere.
The following achiements in a short space of time further buttress his position as the real and undisputed founding father modern Ghana-

In this time and age, Ghanaians living in the cities are like their counterparts in the villages who walk miles to fetch water and it seems okay with us. Please, are we that dumb and the best our educated elite can do is to write articles with vocabulary that one has to consult the dictionary to know its meaning.
Tweakai. Nkrumah is our founding father and so what. Look at the situation in the nation and today, people were happy dancing and jubilating that we are 57 years yet, we still go begging for money to balance our budget.

where on this planest has any nation secured economic or political freedom? The US is dependent on oil, gas and tons of raw materials from elsewhere. Without the resource base of the Third World, Western Europe would disintegrate economically. What is lacking in Ghana is the obvious absence of leadership with the barest modicum of sense to achieve economic opportunities for its people.

A man was visiting Spain and passed by a restaurant in Madrid after a bullfight. They were advertising that they served the balls of the bull who lost the bullfight. Intrigued, the man went inside, only to find that where was a six-week waiting list to get to eat the loser's balls. So he signed up and came back six weeks later. When he got his meal, there were two teeny, teeny balls on his plate. He called the waiter over to complain.
"I've waited six weeks for bull balls. What are these?"
"Sir," the waiter said, "the bull doesn't always lose

What I am trying to put across is that, what ONLY matters in Ghana is money, nothing else, not even if our reputation is on tenterhooks ready to burn.

First and foremost, tell your mommy I say 'Hi'.
Going by your 'tweaaaaa' article you must be close to the sunset of your sorry career, if you have any.
Such far-left crap is something you expect po' and untested Undergrads to espouse; not you, 'ein alter Zigeuerner'[OLD GYPSY].
I pity the womb that bore you, and the pack of wolves that raised your dumb ass. I also pity the students who have/had to endure your balderdash. Dr SAS has done very well 'liberating himself from your Plato's cave'. GOOD DELIVERANCE, SAS.
The 'cruz' of your 'dumbed-down' article is not only to twist the facts and, thereby, exaggerate Nkrumah's achievements[ KWAME DID A LOT OF GOOD THINGS, THOUGH ], but 'to take a leak' from your kote boto onto the graves of JB et al. The man, JBD, gets incarcerated, unwavering from his very sound, and finally-vindicated political convictions, and gets tortured to death in prison. Yet you see him as the villain.
Re the barbaric murder of Akyea Mensah: You are definitely one of the low-lives who believe that the late Johnny Cochran got inflicted with brain cancer because he defended OJ.
IN YOUR LITTLE WORLD DOWN 'PLATO'S CAVE' YOU STILL BELIEVE THAT:
JB et al shot the Sheriff, JR and King Ferdinand[?].
JB et al were responsible for Kulungugu[?], 911, World War 2, as well as the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
If you had an once of brain left in that egg-shaped foreign object dangling[ or, is it STANDING, courtesy Gen Kwasia bi nti ?] on your neanderthal shoulders then you would agree with me that, THE TRUTH, AND ONLY THE TRUTH, SHALL SET GHANA FREE.
PS God has definitely endowed you with a brain; use it, every now and then.

It's amazing how much can be accomplished when no one cares a hoot who gets the credit.
The struggle for independence started as a team effort by the UGCC and resulted in the attainment of a sovereign nation status but the building of a prosperous and progressive nation hit a snag when the team effort was abandoned and Nkrumah decided it was worth his while to go solo.
The story of Ghana's Big Six and Nkrumah is similar to the emergence of the American Jackson 5 to instant fame and Michae's decision to break away from his brothers to begin a solo career. Michael Jackson's decision dismembered the original family group and needless to say that he'd still be alive, famous and rich if the group had remained intact.
Ghana's development and growth stuttered when Nkrumah decided to take all the credit for himself. We've become a nation of ingrates who disregard the hardwork and efforts of certain people because we hate who and what they're and would rather reward idlers and less competent people of similar stripe and disregard the consequences of such foolishness.
We can only progress when all hands are on deck and every one is given equal recognition and rewards are given on merit. So long as we arrogantly continue to disregard the efforts of others we will see little or no progress. What's so hard about recognizing the trailblazing and pioneering work of the Big 6? This is the foolishness the NDC administration is copying to the detriment of us all. T.E.A.M is Together Everyone Achieves Much. That's the spirit behind nation building.

Let those who say "tweeea" to the Nkrumah story tell us what the other parties or governments have done in terms of good and free health care, good education, upkeep of all the great infrastructures left behind by Nkrumah. Nothing! They couldn't even maintain what he left behind, let alone build new ones. They should be grateful and thank God that we had such a visionary in our midst however shortlived his rule was.

The unintelligent and hypocritical hypothesis that Nkrumah alone did everything to attain independent for Ghana is as silly as it is without facts and foundation, but in a country where falsehood underlies everything, some hollow intellectuals will continue to advocate it.
