Gabby,
Since the NPP has a digital copy of the flawed 2012 register, what prevents the party or even NGOs like DI, from cleaning it up and chaalenging the EC to dispute a corrected version of it? From all indications, countries like Nigeria, Kenya and Senegal, among others, are able to produce credible voters' registers.
That should not be surprising because a simple Access or BQL program, which first year university students in Europe and North America are routinely generate should be able to bring out duplications in a matter of hours.
Instead, NPP functionaries are jockeying for national positions, which will be completely irrelevant if the idiot Afari-Djan is allowed to get away with the kind of stupidity and criminality that was displayed before the whole world between January and August 2013!

Gabby, whilst it is true that the EC did not do a good job at the 2012 Elections as we saw in the presidential petition, it is an exaggeration to say that there is crisis of public confidence in the EC. What and where is the basis of this conclusion?
Would you be satisfied if the existing commissioners are retired and new ones appointed? As we now know, Dr Afari-Gyan will not be the Chairman in 2016 and would you have confident in his replacement to be appointed by President Mahama?
In fact, if the international community have on confidence in the EC that might have affected FITCH's grading of Ghana's economy.
I agree with you that the percentage of Ghana's registered voters relative to the total population is very high by international standards. That means either those below the age of voting are registered or double, triple registration. For that reason Ghana will need a new voter registration for 2016.
Are you serious in saying that Ghana's population of 24,965,816 "is almost half" of Kenya's 41,609,728? Gabby, that is totally wrong. It's 59.99% or almost 60%. Almost here means nearly and Ghana's population is not nearly half of that of Kenya but more than half.

Kofi,

by usually low African Standards. And that was just 54.5% of the population.
So the 2012 version of over 56% of the population is even more ludiculous. What these figures mean is that Afari-Djan and his minions have just been throwing the poor Ghanaian taxpayer's money, including what I pay on my business in Ghana, into the drains to be washed into the Atlantic Ocean.
Even more incredible is the fact that he claims it will take over $24m to fix it. That is incredible! I am not a computer scientist or programmer, but for what I know of Sequel and Access, with facial recognition from the photos from the register, I can fix that problem in three months at the most for less than $3m!
If our National Electoral Commission needs $24m to fix that problem, that is where the crisis comes in! We have seen the grossly inflated purchase of Breaer Aircraft, we have seen the inflated classroom block construction and we know of the Cuban Medical Schools saga.
The president and his people should not take ALL Ghanaians for nit wits. Over the past twenty-one or so years, we have gone to the brink on at least three occasions. God has given us brains to fix the everyday problems of our lives. We cannot continue to leave them to chance. Afari-Djan's display at the tribual was nothing to write home about!
