Two things that come to mind about fools from the Bible: A. Ps. 14:1,53:1 the fool says in his heart, there is no God. This is behind all other foolishness. Once a person stops fearing God, they can lie and trick other people with no worries, then they laugh. But proverbs also says, in Pr. 26:18-19 'Like a man who throws firebrands, arrows and death, is the man who deceives his neighbour and says, 'I was only joking.' Christians, at least, must repent of such things as April fools jokes. Non-believers need Jesus first, then a clean life or honesty can follow.

Ps. 14:1,53:1 the fool says in his heart, there is no God.
That saying is no longer sensible in today's world. It may have made sense at a time mankind didn't know how to explain life and the world around him.
Today, it is the wise man who starts by doubting everything, especially long held beliefs without any basis of truth. This includes a belief in some God for which there is no clear evidence.
Today, it is rather the fool who says in his heart that there is God, even though his mind tells him that there is no evidence of such!!!

The fire problem could have been prevented. It shouldn't have happened at all. Do you think it can happen in the West?

The need for well-reasoned thinking on the part of citizens can hardly be over-emphasized. Routinely doing things without spending effort to critically re-examine the underlying beliefs is not characteristic of a forward-moving society. With his carefully chosen set of examples, the author has demonstrated how unintended -but avoidable- consequences can result from a mere (but uninformed) quest for fun and entertainment. Cause for sober national reflection! Congrats to the writer.

Is April Fool's Day even part of Ghanaian culture? This is one of the things we do because the rest of the world is doing it. Like Father's Day, Mother's Day, Valentine's Day and even Christmas and Easter. These are not Ghanaian culture but are Western things. Yet we accept them and fully indulge in them.
But when it comes to homosexuality, then we know that it is not part of African/Ghanaian culture. We don't know that Christmas or April Fools' Day is not Ghanaian culture but we know that homosexuality is not part of Ghanaian culture.
We are simply confused. We think we can choose as we like and when we don't like something, we say it is not part of our culture. But when we like it, we just keep mum.
