I had been missing this much and I did not know. Intellectuals of Obstruction and obfuscation. People think retail of rice and beans means controlling the supply chain. Brother Tamacloe, Bring out more of the small axe and let everybody know that we sold Nkrumah for a 'bowl of rice and a finger of fish' (Joseph Hill). Every country is encouraging production and we are interested in distribution only. One day, China, US and others will stop selling rice to us and we will remember Abodakpi. Great work.

who has been appointing all these incompetent northerners in these positions . Mahama has only one agenda and he is doing extremely well at it , STEAL GHANA'S MONEY and blame everybody but himself for the failing economy . ask him when did he ever take a personal interest in any project that could turn things around ? he is not even looking , he and his brothers are now in the Forbes book of richest people as in 2 years they have stolen more money than ever before in any country . Even Bill Gates did not make that amount in that short period . JJ has kept quiet i dont see him organizing soldiers to go and kill the Mahamas like he did to Acheampong and the rest . By the way kalabule was about giving cars to girlfriends , the Mahamas are stashing cash in almost every country in the middle east and Switzerland . The June 4th joke was about the Ewes defeating the Akans and sharing the spoils of was with the Northerners and that's why JJ can not criticize his own people . Yes go to war against your fellow countrymen under the guise of a revolution against corruption. We shall soon have our own uprising and show these idiots where the true power lies

And this is why I don’t understand why some in my family still vote CPP? Kojo, is stuck on old and unlike the Chinese he is not ready to learn new tricks. Those of us whose fathers had close ties with Nkrumah and whose relatives were with Nkrumah to the end in Guinea understand that in private conversations even Nkrumah had many regrets.
Kojo, forget about the so called industries, enterprises and the workers/builders brigade you are talking about because some of us had folks who were right in the middle of these organizations who can tell you how useless they were. Sure, industrialization is the thing to do, that is what has driven the West and now China and the Asian countries doing well, but I can tell you most of the GOVERNMENT enterprises established by Nkrumah were failing even before he left the scene. Ghana Airways was operating at a loss and the factories were on their last legs and were bound to die. Government enterprises don’t work because no one cares whether it is making a profit or not and that is why we have dumsor and water problems in Ghana.
I understand the nostalgia, yes Nkrumah was a smart man but I think in hindsight he took the wrong fork in the road, which led to his early demise. Ghana needs the industries but not the type you are describing, even China woke up from their slumber and Kojo it is time you woke up too. Get out and smell the roses and don’t be like my family members stuck on OLD.

"What is voodoo economics? This is the Supply-side economics that focuses on increasing the supply of goods and services."
WRONG-VOODOO ECONOMICS IS ANY ECONOMIC THEORY THAT IS WRONG. WHEN RAWLINGS SAID REDENOMINATION OF THE DECI DEVALUED THE CEDI, THAT CAN BE REFERRED TO AS VOODOO ECONOMICS BECAUSE REDENOMINATION NEITHER INCRESE OR DECREASE THE VALUE OF A CURRENCY.
"Voodoo economics largely [revolved][sic] around the lowering of taxes to encourage a higher rate of supply”
WRONG.VOODOO ECONOMICS JUST MEANS WRONG INTERPRETATION OF ANY ECONOMIC THEORY NOT JUST SUPPLY SIDE ECONOMICS.
"If GhC 10000 was equal to $1.00 all one had to do was to print money in large denominations of Ghc10000 and even 1m GhC"
WWHAT A DUMB ASSERTION.PRINT AND CIRCULATE ONE MILLION CEDI NOTES? DO YOU KNOW WHAT SUCH A LARGE ZEROS WILL DO TO ACCOUNTING? KOJO TAMAKLOE HAS NO CLUE ABOUT ECONOMICS ESPECIALLY ON THE TOPIC OF REDENOMINATION.
"Voodoo economics and its history has more to do with the followers of NPP and its thought leader Ronald Reagan and his “trickle down” economics which NPP ascribes to but fails to practice Cut down taxes, pay workers cheaply or slave wages so there will be abundance of supply ."
THIS IS WHAT IS KNOWN AS 'REAGANOMICS' BUT THIS AIRHEAD GOT IT WRONG. THIS THEORY CALLS FOR LOWER TAXES, RELAZING GOVERNMENT REGULATIONS, RESTRICTING MONEY SUPPLY TO CHECK INFLATION. IT DOES NOT CALL FOR ANY LOW SALARIES.
"Is it not a shame that the NPP goes around shouting how educated they are and how wealthy they are but fail to follow up with the investments."
WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS GIBBERISH? THIS IDIOT IS NOT MAKING ANY SENSE SO LET ME STOP AND ADDRESS SOME PERTINENT ISSUES.
Kojo Tamakloe is blaming the NPP for all the mess in the economy and some boneheads are also praising him because they don't know better. Since 1982, P/NDC has ruled Ghana for 26 years and eight years by NPP but compare the record of achievements of P/NDC 26 years and that of NPP 8 years and you will see who did better.
When P/NDC came to power in 1982, our GDP was 3 billion dollars. When they left in Jan 2001, our GDP was only 3.2 billion dollar. For almost twenty years, Kojo Tamakloe Rawlings loving murderous inferno P/NDC was only able to increase our GDP by 200 million dollars.
Compare to President Kufuor who in eight years increase our GDP from putative 3.2 billion dollars to 17.8 billion dollars, more than five times what he met in 2001. The GDP was later rebased to 32 billion dollars and Ghana became a lower middle income country.
Who sold Blackstar line Kojo Tamakloe is asking NPP why they did not rebuild that shipping company. It was Rawlings who gave Blackstar line to Kojo Tsikata, Tsatsu Tsikata and Kofi Awoonor Williams with its 18 ships which they sold to Venezuelan drug dealers and formed and the proceeds from this company used to form an oil company by the three Ewe men which is now operating in Angola where Kojo Tsikata is based. When Rawlings gave the Blackstar line to his Ewe Mafia thugs, 6,500 Seamen and other workers lost their jobs.
What about Valco? When Kufuor came to power, Valco has been redundant because the NDC government said it consumes too much energy which they need for residential consumption. Kufuor revived Valco and when it came up in Parliament for discussion all the NDC MP's voted against its revival but the NPP majority prevailed and Valco was made operational.
Ghana Airways was a shell of itself when NPP came to power and even they tried to revive it by pumping money into it. For twenty years, Ghana Airways did not even own one Airplane the the one Airplane on its European routes was being rented and this is what Kojo Tamakloe is not telling you. NPP even tried to sell it to private companies to operate but the company was too much in debt and no assets nobody will even buy it.
Tamakloe is talking about Ya Na and his forty elders who died in a war between two feuding Royal families and blamed Kufuor. Does Tamakloe know before Ya Na lost his head, Rawlings merchants of death had done the same thing to the Chief of Ofuman in Brong Ahafo region by cutting his head? What about the Paramount Chief of Aburi who was kidnapped by Rawlings henchmen and put in a Helicopter and dropped in the shark infested sea? What about the hundreds of men, women, students and workers Rawlings killing fields killers sentenced to death and shot? Is Kojo Tamakloe going to blame Rawlings for the 5000 people killed during the Kokomba and Nanumba guinea fowl war during Rawlings rule? Tamakloe, don't even go there about atrocities history in our country because nobody can even come close to Rawlings and his EWE murderous inferno. Blame your stupid Rawlings for selling 300 boondoggles Nkrumah left behind most of them not even working and others operating at 25% maximum capacity. Ghana was even declared drug capital of Africa before Kufuor became President, you stupid trokosi liar.
Enough said, read KKO comment for how stupid and trash this article is.

"Ghana rated No.1 in Drug Trafficking" - Prof Addy
By Emelia Gifty Appoh, GIJ Intern
Accra - Ghana has become number one among African countries in narcotic drugs
trafficking. This was disclosed by the Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports,
Professor Patrick Addy, at the opening ceremony of a two-day workshop on
"eradicating streetism in the next millennium"
Prof. Addy said many Ghanaians have become so money-minded and grossly materialistic
that they behave as if our main objective in life is money.
Because of this people have resorted to bad modes of acquisition of wealth such that
scores of Ghanaians export or attempt to export Indian hemp.

I don't get your arguments -- capitalism ("an economic and political system in which a country's trade and industry are controlled by private owners for profit, rather than by the state")works if the right environment exists for it. Give Ghanaians low interest rates, incentives, the basic infrastructure etc., and see if they will not soar like the Chinese. Many private companies are struggling in Ghana because of the "sucky" conditions they have to operate in. The problem is not the African entrepreneurs but rather the clueless governments we have.

My goodness! So outright capitalism with the crass primitive accumulation some of you call corruption is the new way, eh? Which came first? Capitalism or socialism?
I really don't know where you guys read your economic history of the West from, if any at all. Fact is, my reading of the Econ. History of Western Europe shows the State deeply involved in their devts. And books on the devt of the Asian Tigers had shown, by the 1980s, how their States were the major catalysts for their advancement! Had Western Govts failed to bring back the state in, as some scholars - Theda Skocpol, et al, e.g.,- had been advocating for years prior to the Credit Crunch, the economies of those countries would have collapsed.
Like you, I had people actually supervising the setting up of those industries. It wasn't an easy task operating new factories with freshly educated children of peasants and even stark illiterates without any history of industrial culture! Same goes for the state farms. There was bound to be serious teething problems, and there were in abundance. But some of those industries started making profits shortly after being set up! VALCO claimed it'd take them 7 years to turn a profit and so got a tax holiday for that period; and that's a strictly private enterprise! Never mind that they started making profits from the 1st year and still didn't pay any taxes!
Take the Kade Match Factory. The quality of the product was bad to begin with, so were the products of Japanese goods in the beginning. Anlo women nicknamed the match, "wu vi nam", meaning "kill a child for me", since by the time you managed to lit up to see what was wrong with your child, he/she would have been dead! Jump to the 1970s, these same matches were even being smuggled to Togo! The Factory couldn't even meet the demand in Ghana!
Anyway, don't think I shld spend more time on this. But let me tell you that Nkrumah didn't make any mistakes in choosing the path that he chose. Even the colonial power, the bastion of capitalism, was being led by the Labour Govt which proclaims socialism as its creed and was nationalising private enterprises at the time. All indicators showed that countries developed faster under direct state mobilisation of resources, as during wars. That's why Karl Marx wrote that the State is nothing but a committee for managing the whole affairs of the bourgeoisie. Problem is, we only have compradors as entrepreneurs in Africa. Buy and sell traders, and frontmen for foreign capital - that's all they are!

Kojo Tamakloe, you have put your foot in your mouth again. Voodoo economics is not supply side economics or for that matter demand side economics. VOODOO ECONOMICS SIMPLY MEANS ECONOMIC THEORIES PROPAGATED BY ANYBODY THAT IS NOT A REALITY OR DOES NOT WORK. I willcome back to this later.
You are referring to my article which unfortunately you did not understand. When Rawlings said that Kufuor's redenomination devalued the cedi, that is what I referred to in my article as. RAWLINGS VOODOI ECONOMICS because rededomination of a currency anywhere in the world does not increase or decrease the value of the currency and in the case of Ghana, the reason for the redenomination was for the portability purpose principally.
Before the redenomination, you needed 10,000 old Ghana cedis to get one dollar. When the redenomination was done, ten thousand old Ghana cedis became one new cedi and one new cedi was all you needed to get one dollar so there was no increase or decrease of the value of wealth.
Kojo Tamakloe, you are the same person that told me or responded to my comment when I said that Ghana is becoming a banana republic. You responded that Ghana cannot become a banana republic since we don't export banana. Kojo Tamakloe, you are dumb. You don't even know the origin of Voodoo economics and I will explain it to you on my next comment.

WHAT IS VOODOO ECONOMICS?
The phrase voodoo economics became an sardonic and slanderous term George H.W Bush in response to Ronald Reagan economic policies which came to be known as Reaganomics.
"Reaganomics" is President Ronald Reagan's economic belief that cutting taxes, reducing government regulations and tightening money sypply will create the environment for businesses to grow and create jobs and this will help reduce poverty in what became known as TRICKLE DOWN ECONOMICS.
Next time do a better research or when you plagiarize from the internet, make sure you at least have a clue about what you are talking about.

I long suspected that the one who goes with the "Brother" moniker is the same FAKE Trokosi Economic Professor, Kojo T. Anyways, there is nothing good to debate here since he even doesn't know how to serialize an essay. All the four articles have different titles but he call this one 'part 4". Part 4 of what? What is so perplexing is that, their party is in power, and unlike Kuffour who proved in the law courts that, Abudakpi, Solomey, Tsatsu, Peprah, Ato Dadzie, Ibrahim Adam and countable many others were STEALERS, and have their black asses nib to jail, these Trokosi rabble rousers won't stop at nothing other than to shout from tree tops and on mountain Afadjato, denigrating Busia, Kuffour and his ministers by calling them thieves. Meanwhile all those they are accusing, apart from Busia, are still alive and in the country so what prevents these Trokosi buffoons and their useless government from chasing them out of the woods and bring them to justice.

You got to be an economic illiterate to write such a stupidity. If you are being tested on a multiple choice questions and the question is;
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THERE IS AN INCREASE IN SUPPLY OF A COMMODITY?
1 Increase in Demand
2 Increase in the price of the commodity
3 Decrease in Demand
4 Decrease in the price of the commodity
Kojo Tamakloe would have failed the test because increase in supply immediate effect is not increase in demand but rather decrease in the price of the commodity but you fools are all dumb as goalposts you just don't understand any technical subject apart from your "dondology" degrees.

If we wish to educate the younger generation, you should at least be honest about it. When you talk about "Workers Brigade," why don't you be honest about how it and other organisations like it collapsed.
In any case, are you equating the NLC to the NPP which was formed in 1992? Was the Black Star Line not sold by the PNDC? How about Aboso Glass Factory, Bonsa Tires, GNTC, Brick and Tiles and the whole GIHOC organisation? Was it not EL Quartey's son who was hand-picked to run Ghana Airways that ran it aground?
I did a stint at Abosos Glass Factory and had a businessman uncle who was well established in Tarkwa. I also had a friend who worked at Bonsa Tyres. So I have a very good idea why those factories were not doing very well, even before Jerry Rawlings decided to sell them for a song, to his cronies!
As for the Workers Brigade, you might have heard of a prominent chief of the Eastern Region who together with his three wives, were registered on one of its farms. They were drawing their monthly salaries alright but did not even know where the farms were located. The story was the same all over Ghana.
My own family lands in the Central Region were appropriated for use by the Brigade. In the end, those lands only grew wild (male) pawpaw because the people who were supposed to be farming that vast land did not even bother to go there! This was 1964, two clear years before the coup. The truth of the matter is that the state has no business engaging in that kind of business, and most businesses for that matter, if they are only meant to provide jobs to party boys and girls.
As for fighting elections so people can sit on boards, it is a national disease, otherwise Kwesi Botchwey would not award the gas generating plant contract to the Chinese on a "sole source basis" under very dubious circumstances, neither would Asiedu Nketia have the chance to sell cement blocks to the Bui Dam Authority at 300% the market price.
Indigenous entrepreneurship? Hmmmm... There were certain Appiah-Menka, Kwabena Darko, Kwasi Owusu, Dr Sarfo-Adu, BA Mensah, Siaw among others, who were doing very well in Ghana until some envious never-do-wells in faded smocks and Afro Moses sandals appeared on the scene and destroyed them all. Darko Farms' warehouse at the Kotoka Airport was confiscated and given to a foreigner.
I and many of my friends who invested in Ghana recently have all cut back on our investments. Do you know why? The cedi was very stable until some group decided to make Ghana better by throwing its value to the dogs!
The solutions to the developmental problems of Oman Ghana would be very simple if all concerned would look at them impartially and with some modicum of honesty!

Mr Tamakloe claims to be a Pan Africanist but displays incredible ethnic sensibility. His support of Rawlings is based on nothing else but shared ethnicity. No Nkrumahist can fail to acknowledge the criminal destruction of much of the Nkrumahist economic legacy by Rawlings and his collaborators. Over 300 Nkrumah built enterprises were destroyed, stolen sold of to local and foreign cronies at giveaway prices by Rawlings and his P/NDC. The destruction of Ghana's Nkrumah-created manufacturing base was done at the behest of the IMF. Kwesi Botchwey, the Law Professor who became the longest-serving Finance Minister in the Rawlings regimes, did nothing more than implement IMF directives. Ghanaians remember the pain inflicted on them by such policies as SAP etc.
Neither NDC nor NPP have any progressive ideas for our nation. It is time to bring back the Nkrumahist party that brought so much progress and enlightenment to this nation. Tamakloe should stay with his Kotoka-worshipping, IMF-loving NDC and stop his pretenshions to Nkrumahism and Pan-Africanism. It is the existence of such duplicitous individuals like Tamakloe that the CPP has in the past failed to advance an Nkrumahist agenda with genuine Nkrumahist at the helm.
