Let us not be fooled into ignoring the true motives and intentions of JJ's so called uprisings as the truth is evident upon reflection with wisdom and a just heart. It was nothing but a dubious plan and insidious agenda motivated by tribalism and hatred of the Akans . This is the greatest tragedy and the reason why the country can never develop, as long as the undercurrent of all political activity is the hatred and exclusion of everything Akan there can never be true unity and peace of mind . We now have generations of youth in absolute poverty who will never know what a job that can sustain a family is , brainwashed into thinking the perverse lies of this ndc are the right moral standards of the day, yes buga buga tactics designed to break the spirit of a free nation . They say we are only angry but the fact remains this was a tribal war still continuing against the Akans , you will never hear JJ mention the corrupt EWE such as woyome , segbefia and tsikata but rather any Ashanti public or private is the enemy and criminal and his follows will add drug barons . He will never see the evil corruption of his allies in this backstrabbing war against the Akans the northerners and other minorities such as the Gas. Without proof or the need to respect the law and human rights of the accused he will judge and execute innocent Akans into jail or death , even his long time traitor friend Mills was not good enough because he was Fanti and therefore not motivated enough to hate his brothers the Ashantis or npp. Forbes has put the mahamas in the list of being one of the most corrupt family in the country and Africa but JJ and the NDC are blind to this fact and obviously have succeeded in bribing our so called opposition NPP into compliance of the ongoing crimes . JJ , WHERE IS YOUR COUP NOW IN SWEEPING AWAY THIS CORRUPT GOVT ,is it because its now your ayigbe and pepeni who are now the one's stealing ?

This is a brilliant analysis of the ills afflicting the constitutional governance of Ghana. The framers of the 1992 constitution tailor-made it to suit the dictatorial whims of Fl Lt Jerry Rawlings who was making the transition from military dictatorship to an elected presidency. No wonder the executive powers are so structured to ride roughshod over the other two branches of government. Yes, for the sake of proper and inclusive government that genuinely caters for the needs of all our people and ensures peace and tranquility, we should adopt Alhaji Abdulai's recommendation to abdicate the present constitutional arrangement that transforms the presidency into some kind of an overbearing dinosaur.

It is most interesting that the rightist are against the winner takes all as soon as they do not form a government or are out of power. Let us take our minds back to Prof. Kofi Abrefa Busia's words of defiance against our courts when he stated that no court can force him to reinstate the 618 Ewhes he dismissed from the civil service in 1969. Again in 2001 when Kufuor who was the deputy minister of foreign affairs in Busia's government came to power he repeated what Busia did in 1969 bu dismissing Ewhes from both Civil and Public Service. He even went further to imprison some of them so that Ewhes and Nfantis will fear to raise to the top in both the civil and public service.
Kwame Nkrumah never dismissed people from both the civil and public service because they were pro-colonialist civil or public servants.
Nkrumah went further by appointing the leader of the opposition then Dr. Joseph Boache Danquah as the head of Council for Arts and Sciences a post the latter refused to take and rather resolve to terrorize Ghana. There are members of the opposition in both the civil and public service and I am not sure that the current Mahama government dismissed them from their posts. How they can participate in governance is to put aside their political affiliations and serve Ghana with all their heart and mind, as some of us though in opposition from 1993 to 2002 never cut the face of the NDC to spite Ghana.

It took years of intense arm twisting by both local and foreign forces for a recalcitrant, power drunk, sadist and tribal hegemonist, Jerry Rawlings to accede to populist demands for a change from military dictatorship to a democratic system of government. How would anyone in their right frame of mind think Mr Jeremiah John Rawlings did not exert any influence whatsoever on the final draft before the 1992 Fourth Republic Constitution was promulgated into law. The Indemnity Clause is one such example of the hand of Rawlings. Let's not forget that most members of the Constituent Assembly, framers of the 1992 Constitution were either handpicked by Rawlings or were known to be Rawlings sympathizers. The result? A constitution written to satisfy one man's whims and caprices. Succeeding administrations have failed to address its shortcomings because they find it favorable. 22 years is enough time for the nation to awaken from its slumber and do what the politicians are unwilling to do and if we were experimenting don't we have enough reasons by now to fix a dysfunctional constitution?

The "winner takes all" statement is very ambiguous and does not really make any sense.
What exactly is "winner takes all" and what does it mean?
Let's move away from the semantics and look at the issues in broad, simple, unambiguous terms that makes institutional and educational sense, so it situates the discourse in the right context with respect to the constitution and what needs to be addressed with respect to the concentration and centralization of power within the Presidency.
If it has to do with the unbridled powers of the Presidency, and how that is breeding sycophancy and bootlicking, that should be the focus and not phraseology like "winner takes all", which does not make any sense.
The conversation should be more specific and should rather be on the basis of how to limit or curtail the unbridled powers that the constitution provides the Presidency, which forms the fulcrum around which this "winner takes all" mantra evolves.
In a matter of speaking in the context of governance, it should be about the powers granted the presidency, and that makes educational sense and institutionally relevant by factoring in parliament and the constitution, and not "winner takes all", which does not make any sense whatsoever.
