Well, I don't see how Prof. Agyemang Badu Akosa's "Morgue Baptism" suggestion will fundamentally change Ghana's brazenly corrupt politicians, apart from the intimate experience of "worthlessness" of human beings. Fighting corruption in Ghana is 'Mission Impossible'. If Jerry John Rawlings "Firing-Squad" treatment could not cleanse Ghana of corruption, never mind a visit to the Morgue where they're likely to wear the 'beer googles'.
Corruption has become part of daily life in Ghana since independence. And, almost everyone, from the country's political leadership to the Police and Judiciary who are meant to enforce anti-corruption laws/measures are all guilty of corruption. How many politicians, government ministers/officials and civil/public servants have been successfully convicted and prosecuted in Ghana over the past 20 years? Ghana, by its very nature is corrupt!

Prof Akosa's suggestion for ending corruption has been misunderstood by most of the people. From the look of things, the greater number of people are sleeping in corruption. For Prof Akosa, such people must be brought to self-realization by sending them to the morgue.
Once at the morgue, they would come face to face with the reality that life is all about nothing but vanity.
They would be reminded by what they would see that the riches that they are chasing which is making them corrupt would after all not be taken
anywhere!
Even though all and sundry know about death, because we are not always exposed to the horrific scenes at the morgue, we tend to forget there is death awaiting us.
Prof's suggestion is only to serve as a lesson to all of us that, THIS WORLD IS NOT OUR HOME,WE ARE JUST PASSING THROUGH.

I wonder if the Professor's experience at the Morgue added to his humility or took away from it. Did it make him more callous, or more empathetic?
I wish he would have been impacted by that experience to be more humane. However, the net effect of any lesson imbibed would also depend on what the level of his sensibilities was before that experience.
Nevertheless, generally, I would expect that any such visit to the Morgue would trigger a certain need to rethink one's own life and how it affects others.
Many may grow more insensitive by the visit to the Morgue, as the Professor suggested. But others may also be more humbled by it.
Long Live Ghana!!!
