Whether they can transform it into reality when they get power is a different thing. Akufo-Addo is just like all of them.
Akufo-Addo and his financiers have sunk so much money into this thing that only a victory can make them recoup their investment. So they have to sink more money into it to be able to get the bonus, as you so nicely put it, Tamakloe.
But we have to do away with that notion that the presidency is a gold mine - or that political office is a gold mine. It should rather be a sacrificial work where a person goes in and comes back financially worse off but satisfied for a work well done.

I'm glad you have at least admitted that in Europe Presidents resign for failing to put their nations on the path of economic recovery. Using your own argument, why do you think Nana Addo should continue to lead after failing two times to win NPP power?
The article is about NPP and it's leadership selection so please do not shift it over to the government of the day. We all know how incompetent the government is but that should not preclude us from discussing NPP's own problems.
By the way what is wrong for the writer to compare politicians in Canada with those in Ghana? Are we now ready to admit that we are sub-humans and cannot think the way the white man thinks?
The writer did not dwelt on age per se. The focus of the article was for our leaders to know when enough is enough and stop being greedy. The Canadian example given by the writer explained how Mr Hudak and his members took the time immediately following the election to assess themselves - an assessment that contributed to his earlier resignation from how he had originally planned it. That had nothing to do with age. Did Akufo-Addo do any of that self assessment in both losses? Rather, he always finds someone to blame for his loss. That, I believe was the essence of the article.
If our leaders are held accountable and take responsiblity for their actions and inactions, maybe John Mahama would have resigned as you are suggesting.

To say this is a well written rebuttal to a piece that suggested or claim Akuffo-Addo as "Moses or Jesus" shows the level of understanding people have in the Bible. First of all, it's someone's idea, or thinking that he/she expressed. I have not heard neither have I seen it written from Akuffo-Addo ascribing those personalities to himself.
Secondly I find it very difficult to follow the logic of the writer. Let me just ask these questions:
1. How does God choose the person He wants to lead Ghana? I believe no one has ever heard "Gods voice proclaiming" any person in Ghana for leadership or to lead Ghana! 2. Does Failure on two attempts mean the person is a complete failure, especially, when he was able to prove various happenings that skewed the elections? 3. How many times did Moses fail to convince Pharaoh before the final day came? We do not even know the exact timelines that the interaction of Moses and Pharaoh occurred. 4. Which of you has God spoken to that He has not chosen Akuffo-Addo? Certainly, the governance situation in the country cannot convince anyone that Mahama was chosen by God. So therefore, how does God chose a person for leadership in these day and Age?? People can have all their say, and make all sorts of arguments, but the fact still remains that Akuffo-Addo has breached no Law. Whether the Ghana constitution or the NPP constitution, or the Divine Word of God. Those who have the mandate to decide who lead the NPP are there, to decide. Since time immemorial great things have come about after many downfalls. The only time a person is called a failure is when he/she quits from his own convictions. Let's all wait and see what happens in December. IFAD Person like Allan Kyerematin who has failed twice to even get the endorsement of the party thinks this time he would, what prevents Akuffo-Addo from also dreaming big? As much as possible lets not chastise someone for what somebody else has attributed to him.

Has the party become one person's property? The fact of the matter is simple. Nana and his supporters have sunk so much money into it and the only way to recoup their "investment" is force their way unto the presidency. It is the reason why his people will not let him step aside even if he wanted to. To me this is not the same as his ability to lead Ghana into prosperity. After all whatever Ghana becomes under an NPP government will not be the work of one person; it will require a total effort of a team. That is why the party has a manifesto and men and women with talents to do the work. Kuffour did it with a team of men and women Nana Addo cannot do it himself. He too would require a team and the same is true for anyone elected to lead.
So please stop making it sound as if he is the only person who can move Ghana forward. What will Ghana do if God forbid he is no longer around?
