I want to advice these so called demonstrators against the US embassy in Ghana that the United States of America is the huge partner for Ghana. Through the USA, Ghana has benefited a lot, just talk to about the current disbursement of Millennium Challenge Account for high roads, bridges and next plan is for thermal plants across Ghana. And without these helps from USA, none of the so called demonstrators parents would have welcomed high taxes on them for Ghana to have undertaken such projects in Ghana. Inasmuch as I personally find the tweet inappropriate, disrespectful and unacceptable from a diplomatic mission, the tweet is right though. The US Embassy tweet is an expression of its frustration as a mission of a Donor country, observing the waste of its money and the lack of leadership under President Mahama. The US Embassy tweet simply expressed the truth and frustration that all Ghanaians see. Aren't many Ghanaians simply being pretentious over this tweet? Is there anything more 'disrespectful' than the economic hardship ordinary Ghanaians face daily due to the mismanagement of the economy by President Mahama's NDC Government? Is there anything more 'disrespectful' than the staggering corruption of this NDC Government that has broken the back of this country? We all love our country, Ghana! We all have pride in our country, Ghana!
The US Embassy did apologise over that 'disrespectful' tweet. And, if the rendered apology isn't enough, then the NDC Government should expel the US diplomat/consulate official who did the tweet, and see the US Government in Washington bite back!
Any planned Demonstration by a section of Ghanaians will be an astonishing 'nationalistic stupidity'! They should march to the US Embassy, and shout anti-American slogans, and burn the US flag if that will restore President Mahama's wounded pride and leadership.

If you are talking about foreign governments infringing on our sovereignty by saying anything about our economy, then why are you people not calling for demonstration at the British High commission? The High Commissioner recently was in the news praising the government.

It's been a long time! I think I agree with you that this is a most silly demonstration, and it is in Mahama's own interest to make sure that it is not even spoken of further!
I saw this article first before seeing the news that some people were really planning to demonstrate over the tweet from the US Embassy.
I could not believe it! In the first place, the demonstrators are asking for apologies which have already been given, both to the President and the people of Ghana!
Secondly, it appears Mahama has adopted the unfortunate habit of either encouraging thugs to march into town, each time a demonstration against him is in the air. This alone can make him a one-term President! Notice that it is the same group that surfaced to organize the counter demonstration in the lead-up to the #OccupyFlagStaffHouse demo.
It is a very cheap way for a sitting President to embark upon, even if it is not directed against what the President himself calls, "development partners"! At a time the President is complaining to have been abandoned by his "development partners", a demonstration against a "development partner" for an apology that has already been given, is the most nonsensical piece of political action ever to be contemplated in the entire history of Ghana, and probably, the Gold Coast!
Truth be told. The tweet was in a bad taste, and no matter how we feel about Mahama, or how much the US is helping Ghana, that tweet was infantile and undiplomatic. It reduced more the stature of the US Embassy than it affected the President.
It was very proper that the US Embassy apologized. Those apologies must be acceptable to any reasonable Ghanaian, especially as the explanation of a mistake as a result of the use of "multiple twtter handles" by the one tweeting on behalf of the embassy.
The demonstration is so pointless that it is even sickening! Mahama must learn how to let sleeping dogs lie!
I rest my case.

I find it quite interesting and rather unfortunate that two deputy ministers - Okudzeto Ablakwa of the Ministry of Education, Ras Mubarak of Ghana's National Youth Authority are doing their utmost to drag the most powerful nation in the world into something as insignificant as an errant retweet.
Instead of turning this baseless brouhaha into something bigger with statements like "Foreigners cannot engage in politics or meddle with our affairs", "the subsequent tweets are very frightening", " this development is highly preposterous and should not be condoned."
And describing this albeit storm in a tea cup as flippant report to a tweet by president
Mahama.
By urging the Foreign Affairs minister, Hannah Tetteh to explain this "diplomatic blunder", these two junior ministers are goading the NDC foot soldiers to take to the street to demonstrate against the US government. The whole nation of Ghana is not behind this ill-conceived demonstration.

Petrol is selling at 3.36 ghana cedis per liter i.e 15.12 Ghana cedis per gallon. Transport fares have sky rocketed and all the president does is to tweet on social media and tell ghanaians that times are hard. Did we put him there to tell us how hard times are? Did he not campaign on how things have become hard and therefore the need to change and bring him on board for a better Ghana? Is he accepting that he has FAILED? Yes, to me he has failed big time because he acknowledges that times are hard even with all the comfort he enjoys.
