I have noticed that the most sensible articles attract the fewest comments which shows the abysmal level of public debate in Ghana. Any objective analysis of the actions of the NPP party and its "tradition" will confirm that it has been a destructive influence on national politics but the fact that it has so many supporters also suggests that many Ghanaians approve of its behavior. The NDC party has failed to convince a large enough majority of Ghanaians that it has the answers and the CPP is more interested in its internal divisions than in regaining its former strength and pursuing the only Pan African and self reliant policies that have any hope of lifting Ghana and the Continent out of its externally inflicted AND self-inflicted poverty.

Kojo, I find your observations very interesting but also very devious and absurd. Let the NDC deal with the mess it inherited and made worse and the new ones they've also created by dint of ineptitude, cronyism, sycophancy, kleptocracy, unbridled and institutionalized corruption during the NDC tenure of administration. They have no excuse because they've been in power for an uninterrupted 6 year period.
The NPP, like any earthly institution is not perfect and will never be under the prevailing conditions but God endows each man a portion of his wisdom to solve the problems we create for ourselves.
I hope you're not by any stretch of your imagination suggesting that the NDC is peaceful, angelic, and devoid of any internal wranglings. Wherever there's human activity there's bound to be opposition, personal interest, disagreement, conflict, etc. but these are often resolved in time by goodly men.
In reference to the beginnings of the NPP and in utter disregard to objectivity and fairness you said the leopard cannot change its spots. True but it adapts to the environment and its conditions. I don't know about your memory retention but some of us have not forgotten that the NDC was formed by a brutal dictator. He did not hide his aversion to democracy and only accepted democratic rule with resistance and reluctance after severe and persistent arm-twisting by the Western powers and donors amid the home-bred demonstrations and protests by pro-democracy groups who were clamoring for a change from military dictatorship to democratic governance.
Democracy is all inclusive and accommodates every shade of opinion. This makes it more difficult to operate but it's the best political system we have. The peace of the cemetry is no peace at all because it's devoid of every form of human activity. We seek peace because it's elusive and when we find it we keep and maintain peace. Even then peace is a work in progress because earthly peace is imperfect.
I will say it again. The NDC is not made up of angels so don't be too hasty to judge the NPP today. Your party will someday travel on this same road and you'll need the friends you made in the other parties to encourage and strengthen you as you deal with dissent and upheavals within your party. The people you meet on your way up are the same you meet on your way down. Life is like a roller-coaster ride. A word to the wise. ...........
