Are we now blaming Prez Mahama? We have to blame ourselves for not being able to read in between the lines when during the 2008 campaign he Mahama said 'they ie. NDC would introduce a one-time payment towards the scheme. Some voters foolishly believed without thinking deep; now today we are complaining of what? It serves us right.

The author didn't talk of what the best health policy will be for Ghana irrespective of the government in power. He seems to be more interested in blaming Mahama and, by implication, saying NPP is ok.

I know the history of the NHIS very well. It is very true that Kuffuor supported the idea from birth and encouraged the very few but excellent technocrats that designed the project. What Ghanaians did not realize at the time was that, it was a scheme designed and tailored to the Ghanaian population. There is no exact such prototype anywhere in the world. It was excellently designed and passed several tests in and outside the country before it was introduced. It is a viable scheme period!!
Now at the end of Kuffuors term, he must go which he did. When the NDC came, first the appointed this Sylvester Mensah out of nowhere, gave him a big title and he started wearing designer suits. He did nor even liaise with any of the designers, some who were around to give him the insight of the scheme; he did not read into detail any way. Procurements! procurements, appointment of footsoldiers, NDC cronies, dishing out the money to the NDC government, propagenda (shallow talking instead of facts and figures) etc. hence the scheme became broke.
Now I have two comments. Why do mahama continue to appoint brawns and fools to manage the affairs of the country? Everywhere scandals and scandals. Secondly, what is an NDC project and NPP project? If we classify developments projects like that whereby NDC destroys NPP projects (meanwhile they cannot mention a single innovative thing that the NDC has done0 when shall we develop as a nation?
Now that the scheme is collapsed how will the common people who vote for them take care of their health? Upon ALL these there are foolish people toting for another mahama term and another glutunous ignorant group of backward group of Ghanaians ready to vote for this NDC!!. There is nothing wrong with NDC as a party but dumsor mahama is just ignorant, visionless, useless as a leader! We cant continue like this else we are doomed. We should use our brains!!!!!.

Is really indeed a serious case. And one problem about NHIS system is that, some insured clients even offer their insurance ID cards to the uninsured for a fee to use to access health care.
