Just pause a moment to think about the import of the Article. If the West were so curious and worried about who the late President was going to marry, and did marry, why would they not worry about the fact that his influence could dismantle their Empire?
As little as Ghana is, and as much as the foolish racist agents of the West were to belittle Nkrumah, the fact remains that they Mighty West was always concerned about the late President's next move, privately or publicly.

Then, there was an invasion of Egypt in late 1956 by Israel, followed by Britain and France. The aims were to regain Western control of the Suez Canal and to remove the Egyptian President from power.

I had always been curious why Nkrumah looked beyond our borders to find a bride.
My personal view was congealed around his personal security. I had thought that he did so thinking a Ghanaian woman might be easily coopted to endanger his life. To that, I somehow felt he would have unduly discredited our women.
Nevertheless, upon a second thought, I conceded he might spared a Ghanaian family the endless agony of being rightly or wrongly implicated in his eventual elimination by his relentless foes.
On the other hand, I always saw his marriage outside Ghana as a symbol of African unity that he had been preaching about and working for all along.
I bet if he had married a Ghanaian, his enemies might have tried to influence her to bring about his demise or overthrow much earlier.
Nasser's resistance to the British and the Americans on the Suez project and control had earned him quite a broken seat around the global roundtable with the West. Having Nkrumah cement ties with him further could well make the West uneasy.
Nkrumah's genuine close friendship with Israel's Ben Gurion had been silently mitigating the concerns of the West to some extent. So, his marriage to Fathia with the full appreciation of Nasser signaled to the West that he might be abandoning Israel, and that would cost them an important balance.
