The NDC and its corrupt and incompetent presidential candidate lost the elections because they were unable to rig the elections as usual. All the tricks the party had been using since 1992 to steal verdicts of Ghanaians have now been exposed and blocked. Until they repent and mend their crooked ways; choosing democracy over electoral thievery and reliance on rigged elections to rule Ghanaians, they will languish in opposition for the next 40 years or more.

NDC is not the kind of party you can just go against the wishes of the big wigs unless you are made of sterner stuff. So let us give him his due because there were those who were prepared to take the "Comfortable Lead" idea to unreasonable limits, perhaps including annulling results in Ashanti Region on claims of over-voting. Conceding timeously put to a halt the maverick machinations of the Anyidohos, etc. Thank you Prez Mahama, you chose love of country over your party.

Prof, Happy New Year from this side of the pond. I think you might have misunderstood the president elect, Nana Akufo-Addo when he said we should be thankful to outgoing president Mahama. It was for his services to Ghana and not for conceding defeat and the president elect was right. Whether the outgoing president was a good leader or lot, he led Ghana for 4.5 years and that is what I believe the president elect was referring to.
Regarding the other issue of Mahama being cajoled by Kofi Annan before conceding, or EC and NDC wanting to or not able to manipulate the results so the concession, I am not sure of the sources of your claims but for me, Mahama and NDC had no choice but to concede. My only disappoint was that Mahama kept the nation waiting for far too long before conceding.
For those who give credit to NPP IT experts, Kofi Annan and others for the EC and or NDC's inability to manipulate the election results, you all have no basis for such claims. The person and institution who deserve such credit are Mr Kwesi Nyame Tease-Eshun, former Director of Research at Parliament who sued the EC at the Supreme Court for party and candidate agents to be given copies of the pink sheet at the polling station and the SC for ruling in favour of the applicant. The EC omitted this from CI94. With that ruling it became impossible for the elections to be rigged or manipulated by any individual or institution including the EC or EC Chairman. That is what happened and not through the vigilance of any NPP IT expert hacking to EC's IT system. With that ruling in October 2016, Ghana's elections have been secured from rigging.

Had it not be the eagle eye of Let My Vote Count Alliance (LMVCA) and Mr. Kwesi Nyame Tease-Eshun a former Director of Research at Parliament. Let me ask you one question,; were you expecting President Mahama to tow the lines of Jammeh of Gambia, and the Mugabe's of Zimbabwe? Thank God for giving us Mahama. If Africa had many of Mahama's persona, half of the continents hot spots wouldn't be flaring up today. Getting back to the point of still contesting the results of 2012 elections, I'm quiet amazed that though you reside in US, and have acquired substantial knowledge of US Judicial system and how the system works, why revisite the past and still dispute the decision of the highest court in your own country? Recall US Supreme Court decision in 2000, Bush vs Al Gore and how the country has lived past that very important decision. The reason is that they respect the courts! Or are you somehow trying to undermine the integrity of the men and women who constitute our Supreme Court because of your United States status? I demand to know because too many of us have that mindset.
You see, this is the reason why, I find it so reprehensible for people to equate competency in leadership or government with those having chains of degrees! It's quite an insult to our successful farmers and businessmen who have managed their small businesses far better than our economy. My piece of advise to you in the future is to carefully and somberly reflect on your thoughts before spewing them out! We need to heal our country Ghana for prosperity, not to tear it apart.
