l agree with the writer that creation of more regions is not necessarily the panacea for Ghana's development therefore utmost care is required by the Akuffo Addo's administration. l don't think the creation of Ahafo region from Brong-Ahafo is a good idea and will lead to tribal tension in B.A. and will make Akuffo Addo unpopular in the region as people may see it as an attempt to expand the Asante kingdom and Asante hegemony over entire Ghana. The specious reason that it will speed up development is untenable since if anything at all Ashanti region is more populous and bigger which requires creation of a new region out of it. Akuffo Addo must tread cautiously in this regard.

3. Remember, we are not dividing up these regions to satisfy tribal or ethnic appetites. It is purely for administrative purposes. If ahafoians associate themselves with asantes. Well, good for them bit I'm sure some ahafoians would prefer to be seen first as ahafoians before asantes. Same way fantes and akwapims prefer to known as that before branded as akans

Ghana is becoming more and more fragmented! Of course, there're arguments for and against the plans to create 4 more additional Regions in Ghana. Personally, I do not totally disagree with the creation of administrative Regions, but Nana Akufo-Addo's NPP Administration should not rip up Ghana for the sake of politics. Dividing the country into "tribal enclaves" is something that should be looked at carefully.
Ghana is substantially a small country. To seek to further divide Ghana into more administrative Regions will not necessarily guarantee the country's socio-economic and political development. A competent Government should have the capacity to harness all resources, enhance socio-economic and administrative efficiency to transform the country and set it on the path of progressive development. A competent statecraft should strengthen and improve decentralised Government institutions, administrative delivery and efficiency.
Our Ghanaian politics is increasingly polarised. And there is a strong undercurrent of tribalism and ethnic hegemony in some of the proposed additional administrative Regions rather than for speeding up the country's socio-economic development.

Personally, I think these issues should have been given consideration before independence, and I favor a UN style of government where all dialects are represented. We still need intellectuals, but as liaison and advisors. Let us celebrate our heritage!

What rationale is there for adding Ahafo to Ashanti other than to make the Ashanti Kingdom great again, a la Trump? It occurs to me that creation of 4 more régions, making 14 régions, is likely to encourage and promote tribalism, which kills more than AIDs or EBOLA. Let's not kill ourselves for political reasons. Given the size and population of Ghana, 7 régions will be adeaquate.These should be;
1) Northern Region (abolishing the 2 upper west and East régions)
2) CENTRAL REGION (abolishing ASHANTI AND BRONG AHAFO REGIONS)
3) EASTERN REGION
4)SOUTHERN REGION(abolishing G/A region)
5) WESTERN REGION
6)SOUTH EASTERN REGION
7)North eastern REGION
6 and 7 régions will replace VOLTA region.On geographical point of view, VOLTA, as a RIVER,leading to BURKINA FASSO, cannot be a Region. We should seek advice from Geographers.
