It is at the height of crass arrogance that the sub Minister will address the Diaspora with such crude description oblivious of the role the Diaspora plays in National development.
It is extremely disappointing to travel to Ghana expecting a positive mutual engagement only to be castigated by a self aggrandizing Honorable. Honorable my foot.
Ghana deserves better Managers than this Minister who does not even understand Trade Relations taking the Diaspora as a Trade Partner with a 4 billion dollar annual remittance to the country. Is this their reward. Whiners?
This man has no business heading a Trade Ministry
I pray this is not a reflection of the thought process of the Government as a while but an abberation from an ill informed and a distraction a Minister.
Whiners Indeed

Is it really really really necessary to hold a diaspora conference in Ghana? I wonder what such a conference will achieve. Does the government need to invite diasporans into Ghana before it can know how to utilize their expertise?
Most of those people who attended such a conference may be people sympathetic to the ruling government. But the country needs the services of all disaporans who can do something irrespective of their party affiliation. It is not a conference that can come up what such things can be. If the govt has a whole ministry dedicated to tapping the resources of diasporans, then its daily work will be geared to that. A one stop conference is hardly the forum to find that out.
Once the right conditions are created, the diasporans will come waaa waaaa waaaa. They don't need a conference to apprise them of that. After all, Ghana is not the only country that has diasporans who can help the mother country.
As for arrogance, the president himself is the chief of arrogance. Now, he has to be diplomatic in his public appearances so his arrogance doesn't show. Meet him in private and you will see.

We must note that your's is one of the more critically reflective essay we've read on this portal in a while. And thanks for taking time to provide a transcript of sorts for that so-called Diaspora Conference.
We know a bit about organizing and promoting.
You do not get that type of event off the ground and expect productive use of peoples' time even in 6 months. Even retirees would need no less than 1 year to plan to attend/partake, productively.
That is, unless, as you imply, some "officials" merely want to juxtapose their own agenda on a well-intentioned proposal, as such.
Thanks.

Unfortunately the deputy minister's insult or castigation of the diasporans reflect the hate and disdain our fellow countrymen have towards citizens who live outside the country. For one thing, this deputy minister has some hidden insecurities and complexes about accomplished people. Instead of taking notes about the concerns of the people who spent money and time to attend the conference, and using the occasion as an opportunity to brainstorm for ideas, inputs and solutions, he arrogantly and foolishly chose to humiliate them by calling them whiners. I bet this idiot had long rehearsed several times before the conference to label the attendees as whiners. Sometimes I wonder what qualifies some people for the positions they hold in the country. I cry for my country.

We will continue to whine till we get things right.A country of just twenty something million with tons of resources should live better than this.In this day and age when one can virtually send money via mobile phone, does it make sense for one to register his vehicle only in the regional capitals, instead of every district capital?Don't forget the risk and the time consuming involved.I guess I'm whining too much !!

attended by the ministers and their staffers(not deputies) of finance, works and housing, energy, power, agric, health and education. Because all those sectors need help to upgrade and that requires expertise and money. But like I said before. idiots appoint and elect idiots. So people who thought they were coming home to help were not only insulted by the absence of these ministers but were also told they were whiners. Such is the primitive country called Ghana. Reversing the flight of funds/expertise is what the country needs. But leave it to them to behave like this twat. This is nothing new to those of us trying to help. Of the 15 times I have been down to that shithole not once has any minister been on time for any meeting. In fact on one occasion I made it down on the 27th of July only to be told my appointment is cancelled. They gave the lame excuse that the director had to go to parliament. As if a director of education has anything to do at the parliament. But the lame assistant thought that's the way to impress me. My colleagues left after travelling that day from New York. It turns out the director was in there all along. My guess was he was playing with his phone and didn't want to be bothered. That is the Education Director Kobina/Kobla. So they don't care how long you've come. As long as they have a deak and an air conditioned car, Ghana and Ghanaians can go to hell.
Such is the Ghana based mentality. Full of shit!!

The utterances of this nobody called Ahomka Lindsay is the typical modus operandi of the struggling Ghanaian who hangs onto the coattails of a political party, get noticed and get appointed to a position of trust and then what happens? He starts getting some constant earnings in his previously empty pockets and suddenly he grows horns and begins to think that he can talk down his honky nose at self achieving honourable Ghanaians living abroad like beggars who should buy their own tickets to come to Ghana to stomach the disgusting incompetence these civil servants display in the Ministries and other Govt offices? How dare this idiot and upstart think he is a somebody when even the President has the humility to show respect to all Ghanaians, both home and abroad? Please, Nana, just kick this pompous so called Deputy Minister out to eat the proverbial humble pie and also teach your other appointees how to behave as a public servant!!
