Nurses at Korle-Bu Hospital commend Vodafone Foundation

Nurses at the children’s Oncology Ward of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital has commended Vodafone Foundation for the refurbishment of the ward.

Vodafone Foundation refurbished the ward, a little over two months ago into a state-of-the-art facility to ease the tension of hospital staff as well as parents who bring in their children weekly for chemotherapy.

Speaking to journalists in Accra, Nana Pokua Frimpong, a nurse at the ward noted that prior to the renovation works, mosquito nets for the windows were torn and the children’s medical conditions were often complicated by malaria infection.

Ms Patricia Nortey, Matron at the ward, said the new facility had ensured that children receive medical attention in a clean and child friendly environment.

“It is such a joy to work in a clean and healthy environment because some of these children suffer from life-threatening conditions and it is always important to have an infection free environment,” she said.

She urged other corporate institutions to emulate Vodafone’s example and support government in meeting the health needs of the country.
