HIV/AIDS patient testifies

Issakakrom (Ash), July 29, GNA - Joseph Addae, a 35-year-old AIDS patient, has called on people to be responsive to the call for a positive change in their sexual behaviour.

He said it was the surest way that individuals could avoid getting infected with the disease, which according to him, was on the ascendancy.

The AIDS patient made the call on Monday at Issakakrom in the Sekyere West District when he shared his experience with farmers attending a two-day workshop on the HIV/AIDS disease. Over 200 people drawn from 30 communities within the area attended the workshop, organized by the World Health Organisation and Safe Motherhood (SMO).

Major Rosina Dugan (rtd), Director of SMO, appealed to the participants not to discriminate against people living with the HIV/AIDS disease.

She urged the participants to carry the information on abstinence to the doorsteps of their neighbours.

Mr Thomas Edward Atakorah, the Sekyere West District Chief Executive, in an address read on his behalf, expressed grave concern about the prevalence of the AIDS cases in the district. He therefore, urged the HIV/AIDS campaigners to do house-to-house campaign as against the generally adopted workshops.
