"I stand for the interest of the footsoldiers" - Cecilia Akuerter

Tamale, Jan.15, GNA- Madam Cecilia Akuerter, an aspirant for the position of Deputy National Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has said that she would defend the cause and interest of the footsoldiers of the party if she is elected to the position. She said, she was a cadre who for a long time fought and championed

the cause of the footsoldiers and, therefore, knew their concerns very well

and would be in a position to serve them better. Madam Akuerter was speaking to the press in Tamale on Thursday

prior to the NDC National Delegates Congress to elect new executives to

steer the affairs of the party. She said she had the experience and organisational skills to mobilise

people for the party, and therefore urged the delegates to vote massively for

her. She said she was also a unifier and a consensus builder who would

take into account the concerns of all when dealing with issues. The aspiring Deputy National Organiser refuted claims about the

existence of camps within the NDC, and described former President Jerry

John Rawlings and President Evans Atta-Mills as "Grandfather and father"
