NDC opted out of Ejisu by-election to focus on winning the 2024 polls – Yammin

National Organizer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Joseph Yammin has disclosed that the political party decided to stay away from the Ejisu by-election because they see it as a distraction.

According to him, the party is focused on winning the 2024 elections, and partaking in the by-election would have affected their activities ahead of the 2024 elections.

“We are focusing on the national election. We decided to stay away from the Ejisu by-election because we believe after the election, the person will have a few months in parliament and will have to prepare for the general election.

"The NDC is of the view that we should rather focus on our timetable for the 2024 election because if we don’t we will be drawn back.

"We were supposed to outdoor our running mate last week but we have had to postpone it to this week so there is no time,” he told Adom FM.

The Ejisu seat became vacant after the death of Dr John Kumah on March 7, 2024.

The New Patriotic Party on April 13 elected its Parliamentary candidate and is hoping to win massively.
