The Minority Leader and Member of Parliament (MP) for Ajumako Enyan Esiam, Cassiel Ato Forson, has taken a swipe at the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Mahamudu Bawumia, over the plunge in the value of the Ghana cedi.
Ato Forson said while the value of the Ghana cedi is rapidly depreciating, making life unbearable for Ghanaian households and businesses, the Vice President is dancing on his nationwide campaign.
He asserted that Dr. Bawumia, as head of Ghana’s Economic Management Team, is responsible for the plummet in the value of the country’s currency and should be held accountable, citinewroom.com reports.
The legislator urged the NPP flagbearer to focus on fixing the many challenges his government has landed the country in and stop going around the country exhibiting his poor dancing skills.
“In spite of the huge inflows of foreign exchange from the IMF and the World Bank into the Ghanaian economy, and I’m talking about billions of Ghana cedis, billions of US dollars, the government’s action and its management of the cedi have continued to fuel steep depreciation with no end in sight, unfortunately.
“So far, the decisions of the Economic Management Team, chaired by our Vice President Alhaji Bawumia, leaves a lot to be desired. The reality of the Ghanaian economy today exposes the credentials of the so-called economic wizkid who was marketed as the saviour of Ghana’s economy. Alhaji Bawumia’s credibility is now in tatters,” the Minority Leader said during a press conference in Accra on May 15, 2024..
The MP added, “I want to use this opportunity to urge the Vice President to quit his off-beat dancing on the campaign trail and focus on the dancing cedi. There’s a lot awaiting our country as a result of reckless mismanagement by Alhaji Bawumia’s government.”
The Vice President has not shied away from showing his dancing skills on his nationwide campaign tour, which he began on April 29, 2024.
He recently delighted supporters with a display of dance moves during his campaign tour in the North East region.
The viral moment captured the Vice President in high spirits, jumping and dancing on stage as his enthusiastic supporters cheered him on.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer was captured dancing to the popular "Who is Your Guy?" track by Spyro.
Dressed casually in a white NPP shirt and jeans, Dr. Bawumia connected with the crowd through music and dance.
Dr. Bawumia’s campaign tour in the North East Region is part of his ongoing efforts to garner support and solidify his position within the NPP and among the electorate ahead of the 2024 presidential elections.
