Central Region celebration World Water Day in Winneba

Winneba, March 23, GNA - Mr Cletus Avoke Amoah, the Central Regional Human Resource Manager of Ghana Water Company, has condemned the practice where people defecate in rivers and also dump refuse in them. He appealed to chiefs and community leaders to ensure that people stop defecating and destroying vegetation around rivers to save them from dryi= ng up. Mr Amoah said this when he addressed a forum at Winneba as part of activities marking the Central Region celebration of the World Water Day in Winneba.

The celebration was under the theme "Clean water for a healthy World" was aimed at educating the public on the need to conserve water. As part of the celebration officials of the Water Company in the Cent= ral Region visited the Pumping station in Winneba while some students from th= e University of Education and the Apam Senior High School also acquitted themselves with the operation of the treatment process of the water at th= e station. Mr Amoah urged the public to contribute their quota in championing environmental protection by planting trees around water bodies and in the= ir houses to serve as wind breaks.
