Ledzokuku-Krowor Municipal Assembly holds Ordinary Meeting

Nungua, Jan. 5, GNA - Mr Daniel Amartey Mensah, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Ledzokuku-Krowor Municipal Assembly (LEKMA), on Tuesday said the Assembly had provided building materials worth GH¢10,0= 00 Ghana Cedis to the 48 Engineer Regiment at Teshie, towards the constructi= on of a dormitory for the soldiers.

He said GH¢4,000 worth of building materials had also been given t= o the Kpeshie Divisional Police Command to improve on its infrastructure and enhance security within the municipality.

Mr Mensah said this during the Third Ordinary Meeting of the Assembl= y at Nungua. According to him, roads including the Teshie Link, La Palm-Sakumono and Martey Tsuru would be rehabilitated to ensure the total development of th= e road network within the municipality.

He said LEKMA would collaborate with the Accra Metropolitan Assembly= to implement a modern technology of converting waste to energy. He was optimistic that this would reduce the piling up of refuse at container sites, market places, and lorry terminals.

The MCE regretted that the major challenge confronting the assembly was the building of unauthorized structures at inappropriate sites such as waterway, road reservation, open spaces and public user sites. He said the Assembly would embark on a demolition exercise to remove=

those structures, especially those around the Kpeshie and the Okpoi Lagoo= ns. Mr Mensah said the on-going development project of a six-unit classr= oom block and a library at the Nungua Methodist School was 50 per cent comple= te.
