NGO brings "smiles" to the faces of the aged, poor and needy children

Akyem Swedru, Jan. 12, GNA - Needy's Hope, a non-governmental organization (NGO), on Tuesday feted some aged people, poor and needy children in some communities in the Birim South District as part of the New Year Season.

They were provided with soft drinks, biscuits, rice and stew. Mr Odoom Domson, Project Officer of the NGO, told the GNA that the gesture was aimed at lessening the plight of the less privileged in the society and to bring cheer to them during the season. He said the organization was concerned about the welfare of deprived people, especially the aged and would do everything possible to make them happy.

Mr Domson said the main objective of the organization was to create jobs to help employ as many needy people as possible to enable them to fend for themselves and their families. Nana Obeng Asiedu, Director of the NGO, said the programme would be an annual affair.

He said the organization was sponsoring a number of basic school children in some deprived communities in the area by providing them with school uniforms. Madam Akosua Badu, a 70-year-old widow, thanked the NGO. 12 Jan. 10
