Odotobri Rural Bank supports school project

Obuasi, July 18, GNA - The Odotobri Rural Bank at Jacobu in the Amansie Central District has donated two packets of roofing sheets and 60 bags of cement to the Independence Junior Secondary School (JSS) at Brahabebome in the Obuasi municipality.

Mr J. Owusu-Boadi, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the bank, said the bank viewed education as the key to national development and was supporting educational activities including the award of scholarships to needy students and pupils.

Mr. Joseph K. Onyinah, The Obuasi Municipal Director of Education who received the items, expressed appreciation to the bank for the contributions it h ad made towards the improvement of education in the municipality.

He said apart from supporting the municipality in its best teacher award day last year, the bank recently donated 1,000 exercise books to needy pupils and also granted bursaries of one million cedis each to nine female students in senior secondary schools. The 10th student who was at the Akrokerri Training College received 500,000 cedis. Mr Onyinah said the Independence Primary and JSS needed assistance for classrooms due to the over-enrolment in the school. He said the education directorate would ensure effective collaboration with stakeholders to improve education in the municipality. 18 July 06
