Prempeh College builds flats for teachers

Kumasi, July 21, GNA - A 405 million-cedis teachers' quarters was on Friday inaugurated at the Prempeh College in Kumasi. The four-flat building with two bedrooms each was constructed from internally generated resources of the school to ease accommodation problems facing teachers.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Owusu Achiaw, Headmaster of the school, said many teaching and non-teaching staff of the school were living in town due to lack of residential facilities on campus. This, he said did not only affect teaching and learning in the school, but also discipline among the students.

He said the management of the school would continue to explore various avenues to provide residential accommodation on campus for the staff appealed to all stakeholders in the school to assist the authorities to achieve that objective.

Baffour Asare Owusu Amankwatia V1, Bantamahene and a member of the school's governing board, who inaugurated the building, commended the headmaster and staff for the foresight and said the board, would support initiatives that would help promote teaching and learning in the school. He appealed to the beneficiaries to take good care of the building to prolong its lifespan. 21 July 06
