Rains cause damage to Ga West Municipality roads

Frank Tetteh, Assemblyman for Nsakina, today appealed to the Feeder Roads Authority to re-gravel the 15-kilometre road that link Amasaman Township and its surrounding communities.

The recent rains, he said have affected a number of community roads in the Ga West municipality.

Some of the communities are Obeyeyie, Oshieyie, Nsakina, Oduman, Paradise, Block Factory and Borkorborkor.

Mr Tetteh, the Assemblyman for Nsakina made these comments when he briefed the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on the effects of the recent rampant rains that had damaged the roads, and destroyed some farm produce.

He said the Nsaki River over-flowed it banks and vehicles could no more ply the road due to the deep potholes.

Mr Tetteh therefore appealed to the Amasaman Municipal Assembly to come to their aid in re-gravelling the roads.

Miss Beatrice Agbalungo, Assembly member for Dedeiman electoral area also called on the Feeder Road Authority to re-gravel the 11-kilometre road from Pokuase to Bodunase.

She said this would help the farmers from Abese, Katapor, Dedeiman, Badumase and Otsinkomfo all in the Ga West to convey their farm produce to marketing centres.

Miss Agbalunyo said the situation had compelled drivers to charge exorbitant fares to the detriment of the poor farmers and appealed to the Amasaman Municipal Assembly to come to their aid as early as possible.
