Truck crashes 10-year-old hawker to death at Mankessim

A 10-year-old hawker met her untimely death after a tipper truck, with registration number GM 2312 – 21, crashed into her at Mankessim in the Mfantseman Municipality of the Central Region.

The deceased, identified as Hawa, was crossing to the other side of the Mankessim to Cape Coast Highway when she was tragically run over in the middle of the road, according to information gathered by Kasapa News' Yaw Boagyan.

The incident occurred on the morning of Monday, May 6, 2023.

The young mango seller was rushed to the Mercy Women’s Catholic Hospital at Mankessim for immediate attention but, sadly, passed away.

Her body has been deposited at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital Mortuary for autopsy and preservation.

Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle has been arrested and is assisting the police with their investigation.

Residents have expressed concern about the increasing cases of vehicle knockdowns in the area and have called on the Highway Authority to provide speed ramps to avert road crashes and prevent further deaths.
