Friday’s election in limbo; Prophet Nkansah to secure injunction against EC

The beleaguered Founder and Leader of the New Vision Party (NVP), Prophet Daniel Nkansah says he is hopeful to secure an injunction to restrain the Electoral Commission (EC) from going ahead with Friday’s presidential and parliamentary elections.

According to him, it would only be fair and lawful if the elections are put on hold until the substantive case against some officials of the EC is determined.

Prophet Daniel Nkansah has sued the EC over bribery allegations where two officials of the Commission, including the Director of Elections, Isaac Asomaning, have been accused of taking bribes from the Prophet.

He said this in an interview with Citi Fm in Accra.

“Last week, my lawyers went to the Supreme Court but were unable to sit so they said they will file another hearing notice to the Electoral Commission, so I am waiting for my lawyers to serve the EC and give a date to go to the Supreme Court,” he asserted.

Prophet affirmed: “I am on my right path and I believe that hopefully by Tuesday we will go to the Supreme Court and make sure that we put an injunction on the EC because I have to see to it that Afari Gyan, Asante Kissi and Asomaning have to step out before we vote on the 7th of December”.
