Ghanaian media asked to be circumspect

The Central Regional Minister, Mrs Ama Benyiwa-Doe, on Monday called on the Ghanaian media to be circumspect in their reportage, criticize constructively, and avoid exaggeration of issues.

She also reminded journalists of their role to inform and educate the people, and asked them to report accurately and without malice.

Mrs Benyiwa-Doe made the call at a press soiree, organized for journalists in the region, in Cape Coast, which was also attended by members of the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC).

The Ghana News Agency, The Daily Graphic, Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, Coastal TV, Ahomka FM, TV3, TV Africa and Sompa FM, were represent at the gathering.

Mrs Benyiwa-Doe said the media could bind or break the nation and should, therefore, work to foster unity.

The Acting Regional Chairman of the Ghana Journalist Association, Mrs. Shirley Asiedu-Addo, lauded the good working relationship between the media and the RCC.

Mrs. Asiedu-Addo appealed to journalists to work harder to enable the government to fulfil its “Better Ghana Agenda”.
