With due respect, I would like to point out that while Christians do not encourage animal worship because Jesus is the sacrifice, and Christians believe in the transforming power of the Holy Spirit, both systems seek the good of man. Jesus goes back to the beginning of creation for explanations and therefore dwells on the love of God and the vulnerability of man.

The First Word. - "Let there not be to thee (thou shalt have no) other gods ??? ?? ?? ," lit., beyond Me (?? as in Ge 48:22; Ps 16:2), or in addition to Me (?? as in Ge 31:50; De 19:9), equivalent to ???????? (lxx), "by the side of Me" (Luther). "Before Me," coram me (Vulg., etc.), is incorrect; also against Me, in opposition to Me. (On ??? see Ex 33:14.) The singular ???? does not require that we should regard Elohim as an abstract noun in the sense of Deity; and the plural ????? would not suit this rendering (see Ge 1:14). The sentence is quite a general one, and not only prohibits polytheism and idolatry, the worship of idols in thought, word, and deed (cf. De 8:11, De 8:17, De 8:19), but also commands the fear, love, and worship of God the Lord (cf. De 6:5, De 6:13, De 6:17; 10:12, De 10:20). Nearly all the commandments are couched in the negative form of prohibition, because they presuppose the existence of sin and evil desires in the human heart.
