Prof. Mintah: “It’s time to rebuild broken bridges”

Black Stars’ Chief Psychologist Professor J.K. Mintah has insisted that the FA must do all it can to resolve the impasse it has with most of the Black Stars players so as to have a smooth preparation ahead of the 2015 AFCON in Equatorial Guinea.

The Black Stars qualified to the tournament on the last day of matches following some unimpressive outings during the early stages of the qualifiers. The Stars were without their talismanic captain Asamoah Gyan in the last two games an action that saw the captain’s armband being changed twice.

Several players are out of the Black Stars team for one reason or the other and Professor Mintah, who deputized for care-taker coach Maxwell Konadu, has mentioned that there is the need to rebuild those broken bridges between the players and the Ghana Football Association.

“I don’t know how we are going to do it, but I believe that we need to take steps to ensure that we talk to all these players who for one reason or the other have been left out of the Black Stars team since we returned from the World Cup”, Professor Mintah mentioned in a chat with sportscrusader.com.

A Psychologist by profession, Professor Mintah has so much experience in handling and analyzing the psychology of player before, during and indeed after matches.

It will be recalled that the Stars’ technical team has not invited the likes of Sulley Muntari, Michael Essien and Kevin Prince Boateng for any of the Stars’ 2015 AFCON qualifiers.

Goalkeeper Adam Kwarasey has been invited on a few occasions, but the young keeper failed to turn up.

These and many more issues, Professor Mintah feels should be addressed to give the playing body a new lease of life ahead of the tournament which kicks off in January 2015.
